Cooking deli meats

I read you should avoid eating deli meats but I heard it's okay to as long as you cook it, how long would cooking it take to make it okay? Or microwaving it?

I usually microwave it for abt 30 seconds!!! I  just can't stay away from lunch meat sandwiches!!! Love em on a good bun with mayo n lettuce!!! ;-)
