Curious..ftm

What's your experiences after you gave birth at the hospital? Like how do the nurses help with the LO? Do they help at all or is it all you after you deliver? Things like that.. Anything regarding hospital stories would be interesting, so please..share your stories :)

Right after I delivered I was moved to a different room and was left to take care of little one by myself to prepare you for going home and better bonding experience . I left the day after I delivered though I didn't stay .

Were the nurses hovering over you at all? I don't want them to be all up on me when I'm trying to learn everything about caring for the newborn

Honestly , the nurses just came in to check babys temp every few hours , and check my vitals . They would also just give me prenatal , iron , motrin because of my stitches I was in pain . And push on my belly for blood clots .

They don't get in the way unless they see you doing something wrong or you ask .

Your welcome . And remember of you don't want them to interfere you can definitely tell them and they won't unless its to take baby for his or her shots and hearing test .

The nurses only came in to do tests on my baby, and helped me breastfeed, like correctly latching him on :)

What kimjarrah said^^^^^^ they only came in to check on my vitals and baby. Made sure my stitches looked good. They helped me in any way I needed if I needed them all I had to do was press the call button. :-) I had gd during my pregnancy so I stayed in for two days. It was awesome. My second day they gave me a choice of a grand meal. I got chicken a giant potato and broccoli and cheesecake with a whole bottle of apple cider for myself. Of course I shared with my husband though for sticking by me the entire time. :-) haha

I'm going to be so scared to ask for advice/help. I don't want them judging me for not knowing how to breast feed or other situations.

Don't worry. They see these things on a daily basis trust. I wasn't too sure if my little one was latching on right so I asked and they checked and showed me different positions. It's very helpful. I would def. recommend it if you do have any reservations about anything.

Don't be afraid to ask for help. They are use to that and they are always more than happy to help/answer questions. If you don't want help just tell them you want the baby to stay in your room anf then they usually don't bother you much. If you get tired the are also usually willing to take the baby while you nap as well.

If you have a c-section they will be a lot more involved as they have to check your incision, bp, urine out take, blood loss, get you mobile etc but even so they do that all fairly quickly then leave unless you need them.

Did you get a c section? If so, how many days were you in the hospital?..I may have to get one due to baby being breech.

Yes I have had 2 and having my 3rd on the first of aug.  with our first I stayed the full 4 days only because I labored for 33 hours beforehand and was extremely exhausted & couldn't get out of bed well. With our second it was planned and much much easier, I delivered her at 1145 am and was walking by 4 that same day. I only stayed 2 nights, this one I'm praying is the same with my daughter. If you have staples they usually make you stay 3 days so they can remove them before you leave. But, I'd honestly ask if you can have steri strips instead, they fall off over time. And a c-section really isn't bad, its not as horrible as alot of women make them to be.

Only thing I worry about is the recovery time, my bf can only get a few days off work so either I have to be good by the time he goes back orrr ill have to go stay with family so they are able to help...really hoping for a vaginal delivery though.

I had an emergency section with mine, when i was in recovery they brought him in to me and latched him onto me cause my arms were still a bit numb. They gave me a bed bath and washed the wee man when we went back to my room and dressed him. Cause of my section and other complications i was checked every 15 mins for my obs, got my pad changed every half hour as i lost a lot of blood, got my catheter checked regularly, then i had to buzz if i wanted him put in the cot beside my bed or if i wanted him out cause i could hardly move the first day x
