I was on the depo shot for around 5 years. It took over a year for my body to even begin to regulate itself, and 19 months before I was able to get pregnant through IUI. I had some other issues as well (thin lining, not ovulating every month) and so did my husband so I'm not sure how much the depo had to do with it, but it did take a really long time for my cycles to go back to "normal" again.
I was on the normal pill and came off in July too. I have also been trying for seven months and was on the pill for three years, I've had a lot of people advise me to keep persuing and not worry that it's taking a while because the pill takes a couple months to flush out of your system and then you have to get back into a regular cycle! Once your in a regular cycle it's more common to get pregnant and as far as I'm aware (people may correct me if I'm wrong) its more common to fall pregnant within 18months of trying.... I hope this helps, I'm just going by what I've been told here but I will keep my fingers crossed for you :) x
