Dr says my babies over weight?!

My son is 1 month 2 weeks and 3 days old. He eats 4-6 oz every 2-3 hrs. And weighs about 11 lbs 13 oz. And apparently to this Dr i over feed my son and he's over weight.

Doctors told my mom i was over weight when i was a baby, i ended up growing up and actually was under weight most for elementary and up until i got pregnant. Also know a few other moms that doctors have told their babys are over weight. They really cant tell whats gonna happen. I say if hes hungry feed him what he will eat. Be more worried about weight when hes a bit older and on solid foods

That seems like a lot. My daughter is 3 months old and was 6 pounds 13 oz at birth.  She is now 12 pounds and 2 ounces and will eat no more than 4 oz every 3 hours.
I agree though that you can't starve your baby.  Maybe talk to your pediatrician about switching his formula to the one that is thickened with the rice cereal to keep him full longer. It's by enfamil in a red container.

Dr's like to do this with ftm who probably don't know any better. How would you feel if someone told you that you couldn't eat? If your baby is hungry, feed him. If he throws up he is just being greedy and most likely just wants the comfort of suckling something. You can not put a baby on a diet. It doesn't work

I'd get a second opinion. My peadiatrician has only ever told me what percentile my son (formula fed) is in and tracked it from birth. He's been 75th percentile for height and weight almost consistently since 3mths old. He's bigger then my friends breastfed 14mth old but every baby is different.

But if I feed him a 4oz and if he's hungry an hour later I'll just give him a 2oz

If yu can see a pacifier won't work then feed him. He is really young to be eating every hour so if you can push for at least an hour and half thats okay. Its shocking to hear a baby his age that hungry but everyone different he just a big boy he is going to be fine

Does he puke? If it were me when he cried i would give him,the pacifier and check his diaper. If he is still, fussy give him,4 oz. Then the pacifier again. If hes still, hungry and he doesnt puke when u give him 6 oz i would let him eat if he wants.. but if he pukes its too much,

this is my opinion! Don't take personal please. Stick it 4 oz of formula at his age if he hungry every 2-3 hours that's ok but don't give him more than 4 oz. more than that he most likely throwing it up after meals.

My brother was ten pounds at birth. Babies weigh what they weigh how can a doctor expect u to put your baby on a diet?? U could maybe try giving him a pacifier before a bottle and see if he is hungry or just wants to su ck but if he is hungry he is hungry!

He's on formula. The dr told me to stop giving him 6 oz that its way too much for his age. And to feed him only 4oz every 3 hours. But my poor babies always hungry and sometimes wants 6oz! He doesn't even look fat!
