Drug testing newborns

How many mamas have been drug tested at the hospital and their babies also? If so what state do you live in?
And before y'all start bashing me this isn't for me, I don't even take Tylenol lol. Just curious. Thanks :)

They do in Texas. My friend smoked marijuana her first 4 months then stopped but ended up having her baby girl at 21 weeks and CPS was immediately involved because she tested positive at birth. She wasn't allowed to live with her daughter for a year after she got out of NICU and had random CPS visits for the year after that.

In Minnesota they give you a drug test every 3 months and then they test baby's first poop when baby is born. And they will give you a drug test no matter what! Even if they don't suspect anything

I live in Washington. When I had my daughter almost two years ago I was asking questions about the drug testing, because she asked me if they could drug test me. They test everyone for weed but to test for anything else they need permission.

I live in California and everytime i have a obgyn appointment they make me pee in a little container but i dont know whats its for, ive never questioned why they take a pee sample but it could maybe be for drugs. Im definitely gonna ask in my next appointment

Most states are passing laws to drug test at every appointment with the urine sample they take at most all/ever appointment regaurdless if they suspect or not.

Yeah I live in pa, and my one friend who just had her baby went to the hospital for abdominal pains and they tested her urine and she came up dirty and they didn't do anything and then she ended up having him at 36+3 and I'm not sure if they tested her but she was able to take him home. No CPS involved. So I mean I guess it all depends on the hospital and their policies.

I live in New York state. The town I live in is so close to PA, and it's a horrible town. It used to be so awesome, but then the ghetto moved from the west side to pretty much all over. Like I said, I hate it, but I have no money to leave yet.

Im in nys and Im not sure if they drug test maybe if its suspected. But if your worried about anything I don't think its taken seriously my friend smoked and they just had cps come and check her house then they closed the case.

I live in new York and I guess a law was just passed that they do a manditory urine screen for anyone admitted to the hospital.

Florida...I have a very strict doctor but I believe most docs test the first time u come in anyway. I  was not told he was doing it unless it was in fine print. Ive been tested every apt since then xause I had marijuana in my first urine sample. (6 weeks preg).I know they will test at the hospital too but now that im clean I have nothing to worry about.  Good luck!

Here where I am, they test regardless of whether they think you're doing drugs or not. That's because I the hospital I'm going to deliver at is in a highly drug infested area and they are ALL very much ILLEGAL. I hate it here, but I don't have the money to leave yet. :-/

I heard that's it's only if they suspect you're on drugs. Idk why any mom would go into the hospital messed up in the first place. My friend and I were just talking about this that's the only reason I ask.

I live in utah and I know mine drug test if they suspect or know there has been illegal drug use during pregnancy. I believe most hospitals in most states do.

I never heard they do this maybe its only if you say you have a history or your old work look off in my opinion
