You know you can always get another form of pain medication during labor, it doesn't have to be a epidural. Jest something to ease your contractions. If you wanted to try it all naturl

I have scoliosis and it took them over 5 tries to get it in. Some of those tries hurt. But let me tell you, I would do it again in a heartbeat and will do it again if I have more children! It allowed me to get some rest during labor and I was completely numb for that, yet when it was time to push I felt the contractions and knew when to push. Sounds painful but I don't remember the pain. If anything I was extremely grateful for it. My body knew what to do and pushing when it told me to felt so satisfying. The only thing I didn't like was that it LITERALLY NUMBS YOU FROM YOUR CHEST DOWN so I freaked myself out a little because I felt like I couldn't feel myself breathe? Lol I got used to it. I'd do it again for sure.

I had it for My first labor and delivery with my son. I'm expecting a bby girl and I plan on having another epidural again... I'm a wimp when it comes up to dealing with labor and delivery pains.

Yes! I had an epidural and definitely will in any future deliveries. It was placed on the first try with a local anesthetic before so I didn't feel anything. It kicked in right away and I was able to sleep through the night (with the exception of doctors/nurses checking in). The only thing was that toward the end it wasn't enough to cover my contractions. Definitely glad I got it though and definitely will again!

I had an epidural and I'd definately have it again, I had a great experience didn't feel the needle going in or anything and my back didn't hurt afterwards like a lot of people say could happen, during labour it was a relief for me considering i laboured for 39 hours with a back to back baby, after having the epidural all my pain disappeared it was great xx

I had an epidural with my first, but i didnt like it so im going natural this time. I want to see if i can handle it. Women did it for a long time without. Not going thru the pain isnt worth not being able to get up on my own afterwards. Ive heard its empowering as well to do it naturally. Hope everything goes well for you ladies either way you choose to do it.

Hopefully everything goes smoothly for me and I may consider going further without the epidural but I doubt that I will since I'm so afraid.

I got an epi with my first, but am going natural with this one. It was awesome not to feel the contractions, but I didn't like being catheterized and unable to get up and move around. Where I'm delivering they let you eat/drink, move about, etc. when you deliver naturally.

I had one with my first son and it was great, With my second son it went all wrong in the delivery room, the person doing it could never stick me right. Had stuck that neddle in my back over 5 times and still didn't get it. I ended up going without anything. That was horrible. I made the decision with my 3rd son not to get anything and my labor was good, had him all natural. My doctor was very surprised how well i handled it. Im pregnant now with a little girl and i have made the same decision to go natural for the 3rd time. Its much easier for me...
