Epidural vs. Interthecal vs. No Meds

Hi ladies! I'm stuck between whether or not I want to get an epidural, an interthecal, or to go med free.. I've heard good and bad things about each side.. Just looking for personal opinions? Not due until Dec 10, just trying to get my birth plan sorted out and I can't seem to make up my mind!

I had a epidural with my first two kids and ibplan to do it again yhis time also. Why.. Because i liked having feeling of when i needed to oush when i knew my child was heading down and out etc but i really did enjoy all of it with no pain. I get it for a few reasons besides being able to enjoy the birthing process.. I get it bec im mot interested in feeling needles ig you get stitches im not interested in feeling they cuting of my vag area if the ba y is to big and im not a fan of hey emergency csection and getting one out in anyway.. Im already ready for w.e. might happen etc. I thankfully have had nthn wrong with any of my child births no stitches nthn but i feel its bec the more relaxed i am the better off i am and i tried for 7 hours with my first to not get the epidural but i couldnt relax i wS in pain so i got it and boom here came baby bec i got to rest i got to relax and smile and giggle with my husband.

Hi there.   I had an epidural with both of my births which I found to be a good experience.  This is one of those things that is so independent of each woman and has to be what feels right for her.  It's between her and her doctor.  No right or wrong answer.  And here's the really good news . . .  you can have an idea in your head of what you want to do and change it at the last minute.  No shame whatsoever in doing that.  The end result is a baby and a good birth experience . . .  so do what is best for you.  good luck

I really wanted to do all natural but at 9cm I caved in and got it. Definitely decide before 9.. They gave me a spinal block and the epidural and I couldn't feel anything, it was frustrating cause I couldn't feel myself push lol and I pushed for 2 hours because of it. I'm definitely going to try natural again this time around. Just make sure you have something to take your mind off the contractions, like music or a warm shower.

I had the epidural and loved it, I'll be having it again this pregnancy. There's nothing wrong with meds, though women who go natural say it's more empowering. If you can have relief, why wouldn't you? In my experience, I was in labor for 3 days and ready to relax so I got it at the 70ish hour mark and things went so smoothly and I was very relaxed and not in pain, I enjoyed the experience. I say go into it planning natural but open minded, if you decide you want the meds, then don't feel bad for wanting the relief (:

I went all natural. My mom and husband used oils and massage to help me through the pain

I agree with the first 2 comments. Or at least put off Ned's for as long as possible. Just think 'ok one more hour then maybe get meds' I had my son all natural. Totally worth it

Always try to go natural if you can! No need for pain meds if you don't really need them. But if you do, then you can make that choice then and there. :) that's my plan at least

Just set your mind to going natural.. it's what I did. I told everyone that was my plan they all told me I'm nuts and that I'm going to cave in and takes meds but I set it in my mind .. and that's how it was had my son all natural ... but if you do decide to take a medication It's okay there's no wrong or right as long as baby arrives safely and healthy... just try to come with coping plans... to distract yourself from the pain.. I chewed ice and Had a cold rag on my head.
