I failed my 1hr glucose test. My levels were 190. I had to get the 3hr test done on Tuesday and i ended up passing it.
They will just schedule you for the 3hr test. If you fail that then they will put you on a special diet and monitor your glucose levels.
Thank you. For the 3 hour test you have to hang out at the doctors office for 3 hours?
That doesn't sound fun... What are things I can do or eat to help pass? I just don't feel like I have gestational diabetes. I'm fairly healthy and pretty active for being pregnant and it honestly shocked me when I didn't pass the first test.
If your test is early in the morning I wouldn't eat after midnight that's what I did. I watch my sugar intake the day before. And all I had for fluids is water. Most women don't pass their first ones I didn't and alot pass their second ones like I did. But with the 3 hr one they draw your blood three times so there's a good chance you can pass it
I was actually there for 4hrs. I had to fast. Couldn't eat or drink anything after midnight and went in at 630am. They drew my blood and got my fasting levels. Had to wait half hr for those results. Once they came in i had to drink the solution which is worse than the 1hr cuz all the sugar sinks to the bottom. Icky. Then waited an hr and had my blood drawn again then again an hr later and one more draw an hr later. I finally left the lab at 1045am. Luckily they let me sit in a room by myself with recliner chairs and a huge tv. I brought homework and my ipod to pass the time.
Thanks that makes me feel better! I fasted once midnight the day before my test too..
My office is so small I don't think they have special rooms for that :( I feel like is just be hanging out in the waiting area
I had mine today, and surprisingly I passed it. I heard most women don't pass the first one. Try to watch what you eat the day before and that day. Good luck :)
The numbers they are looking for is fasting below 90 and while on the sugar below 130 anything higher is GD. Also you don't have to be overweight to get it. Its actually the baby's hormons that effect our pancreas not letting our pregnant body's produce sufficient amounts of insulin that we need. That's why any women can get GD.
