I only got poked with a needle 3 times my entire pregnancy. I used a midwife and birthing center not a hospital though.
I used to have a phobia of needles, it wasn't the needle itself but the pain they cause. I got diagnosed with ulcerative colitis last year so ended up having blood tests IV lines and whatnot, a nurse got me some emla numbing cream to put on the area about an hour before a blood test was due, don't know if that's a option but I used that for a good while after I left hospital. Eventually there were a couple of times it didn't work and I got over my fear and am OK with them now. I tell myself pushing the baby put on gonna hurt a hell of a lot more so I need to be able to deal with a needle lol
Im the exact same and with my first i was so anxious and worried about all the needle things but believe me you get so used to them, my blood type is 0 negative and i have to have three needles in the leg through my pregnancy and one after and i never thought i would ever be okay with them now it does not bother me i think it depends on the person who does it too goodluck xox
I've had my blood taken several times. I'm 29 weeks. Last pregnant I had my blood taken at every appointment because I was severely anemic.
When I went into labor they of course did the IV, then I got the epidural lol
It partially depends on how the Dr. Does it. With my son, because I had no complications I only had blood draw I wanna say maybe 3 times. They did a mass blood panel and took like 8 vials early on and got almost all of it out of the way in one go.
Well you get blood drawn atleast 5 or 6 times through pregnancy not adding when you deliver that they connect the IV on you...
But theres some nice ppl at some offices and you can ask them of they can draw your blood with the butterfly needle and its way smaller than the vacutainer which is the big needle they usually use goodluck (:
You mean like blood work right ?
