Fluid Leakage

I am 6 weeks 3 days pregnant, and since the very start of my pregnancy I've had some leakage. I wear a liner everyday, but it isn't enough to have to change it throughout the day, or soak through. It is a clear fluid, and I've never noticed a smell to it. Could this actually be amniotic fluid like I was told it was? Or do you think this is more of a watery discharge? I'm having a hard time believing that it is amniotic fluid leakage, especially since I've had it since the start. I just had more blood tests done and waiting for the results to see if my HCG levels are increasing.

Thank You! It was a doctor that told me this unfortunately. I've had HCG levels done twice, and both are perfect. I also just had an ultrasound and there is nothing wrong. My doctor can't believe the other doctor told me I was leaking amniotic fluid and going to miscarry!

Hi!
I'm not sure who told you that it was amniotic fluid, but I hope it wasn't a doctor or nurse.
A few important things to know--first of all, there really isn't much amniotic fluid until after the first trimester, second and more importantly, an amniotic fluid leak is a minor emergency, and should be reported to the doctor right away.  Once the membranes have ruptured, infection can set in and lead to complications.

Many women find they have excess clear mucousy discharge during pregnancy which is caused by the high hormone levels.  It is also common (although usually later in the pregnancy) to have some urine leakage from the baby "sitting" on the bladder.  Either of these things is normal.  Amniotic fluid leakage is not.

Hope this helps!

Good luck!
