For newborns ?

Do you think that a new born can watch tv. I mean I don't want him to but my mother in law just put him to watch it and I didnt like it. And also she gave him the pacifier when I clearly said at least 6 weeks !

Newborns can barely see hun , so I know they can't watch tv. Their vision is probably just as bad as an elderly womans.lol! & who just puts a baby in front of a tv?

I was a fan of no TV, but my daughter is 16 months and she LOVES counting. She counts EVERYTHING. So she watches about 2 shows of Jake and The Neverland Pirates a day and her favorite part is the counting. I don't see anything wrong with it at all, she's a good baby and she's learning at an advanced pace, but it's her own oace.

I am very much for "no TV under 2" so I'd be upset if I were you. I mean in a newborn it won't make much of a difference because they can't see well, but in a few months when baby is learning about his/her environment television can be overstimulating and can hinder their development of spacial reasoning... I'd make sure to set the record straight with her now so she doesn't go again at you again. It's your child, not hers.

Okay,  so Masteff,   when your MIL comes over unplug the TV and hide the pacifiers.

When she sees him is when she does all this , like if I let her hold him or see him for an hour is when stuff happens and I'm like ugh! She doesn't take care of him I do,

My baby is now 2 months and till this day I dont put him to watch tv not because it's bad but because I didn't think he'll be watching he does love to listen to music so I'll always have the radio or pandora on and with a pacifier at 2 weeks and I haven't had no problems I guess all babies are different

Newborns can't watch TV. Newborns eyes can barely see. You have to be 12 inches in front of your baby for them to make you out. All they can see is dark color. So even if she puts your babybto watch TV they can't see anything just hear it and see the light from it.

Why is your mother in law in charge of your newborn,  Masteff?

I let my newborn watch TV. But he's not a big fan of it and won't watch it lol. And I breastfeed and my doctors told me not to give him a bottle nor a pacifier for several weeks because they said he would get confused as to what was the nipple, bottle, and pacifier. I gave both to him at 3 weeks and he was/is just fine! As to your mother, she should respect your wishes towards your son. Your raising him and you had him, not her.
