You should have blood drawn and hour after you drink some sugary liquid, I suggest you fast, that's what I was told. I had a small sip of water before but that's it.
i was allowed to eat and drink for the glucose test. i was given a green drink to drink when i got there and then after 1hr they took some blood and then i could leave, unfortunately for me my levels came back really high so i had to a second test where i was not allowed to eat for 12hrs before the test but i was still allowed to drink water. This time they took blood before then made have a green drink then i had to sit around for 2hrs then they took more blood before i could go home.
I have to sit at my doctors office for an hour?
yes unless they gave you the drink already...you have to get you blood drawn an hour time starts after you drank all the stuff completely.
They gave me a drink on my prior appointment with an instruction sheet. I couldn't eat that morning and had to drink it exactly one hour before my appointment and went right in to have my blood drawn!
Some docs allow u to eat and some dont... ur Ob should have given u instructions on what to do
Sorry for all the questions ladies & Thank you for your answers(:
But is the drink nasty? && if I stuff my belly now would it be okay?
Your best bet for an accurate result would be nothing but water after midnight. The drink is pretty yucky. My Dr just pricked my finger :)
It taste like flat orange soda or some kinda orange taste...my first pregnancy I took it wasn't bad at my second pregnancy it was nasty (wasn't a fan of citrus stuff)
No u don't have to fast I ate scrambled eggs and toast with a glass of milk at about 10am my appt was at 11:30 I drank the drink waited at the Dr office for the hour they took a vile of blood and sent me home mine came back a-ok I just don't think u should eat or drink any thing sugary that day the drink is not bad are all I'd drink it again lol it's like an otter pop or an unfrozen popcicle just drink it in large gulps and don't think about it good luck :-) let us kno how it goes
I am worried about this test myself, i go monday :/ but sugary things make me sick to eat or drink now... i cant imagine what this drink is going to do to me. but i was told not to eat or drink anything within the hour before the test during the hour i have to wait, i will have an ultrasound, my rhogam shot and then i will have my blood taken.
Ahh I hope I can keep the drink down but besides this glucose test and the blood draw is there anything else they do or check for at a 24 week app?
For me, they took blood, gave me Orange drink, sat there for an hr, then took blood again. Unfortunately I failed it by 2pts. So I took 3hr test. Which was blood, drink, hr pass, blood, hr pass, blood, hour pass, blood then I got to go home. Uhm I might've failed cause I had cinnamon toast crunch the night before. But with 3 hr test they asked me to fast since 12 hrs before.
Soo if I fail this test I have to take the Sam test just instead of just 1 hour its 3? ... Why is that?
&& is it okay if I eat a pice of fruit or a cup of grapes?
I m having mine at 26 weeks at the end of july which is our marriage annivetsary.
With my daughter i had to fast and they gave me a flat fanta tasting drink wasnt that bad.
If its red take it and drink it cold bc its so good compaired to the orange yuck
I personally would wait on anything sweet just incase cuz I wouldn't wanna go back for the 3 HR test lol and ya if u fail they ask u to do the longer test to make sure the results were accurate at 24 weeks it was just like a normal appointment measured belly listened to heart beat urine test and asked if I had questions took all of about 15 min lol
a cup of grapes is fine and some fruit is fine. toast and even a cup of cereal is fine. what you are looking at is carb counting. you want 30g of carbs in the morning. on the diabetic diet you eat every 3 hours...so if you eat your breakfast three hours before your appointment you will be fine, your sugars will have regulated themselves by then and ready for the peak of sugar juice. there is a three hour test because a lot of women fail the one hour test when they aren't diabetic. so they use the three hour test to make sure.
Okay well thank you ladies for all your help now let's hope I pass this test my doctors App is at 9:45 soo I'll keep you ladies posted(:
I wouldnt eat anything they told me i could eat just nothing sugary so like a ******* i eat a bagel not knowing the sugar in it.. i failed the test slightly so now i gottaa go to the hospital and take the 3 hour test
