No other reason, it feels to me Like the dietician just pushed the medication on me without hesitation. In holding off on it till I see another dietician for a second opinion
Then based on what my dr and my high risk dr (I'm old lol) and the dietician told me when diagnosed and Continue to tell me, I don't think you need medication unless there is another reason I am unaware of. My high risk said Cuz my #s are steady and he's normal growth although my fluid is a bit high (21 is top of "normal" range and I am at 20), she's ok with me actually checking my blood sugar less than the 4 times a day I have been. I am also 35 weeks which I know plays into it as well.
This week was my last ultrasound. Fluid and growth are good
Thay brings up a good question...when was your last ultrasound and how was babe growing? Fluid levels?
I'm currently suffering with gestational diabetes but am in the UK, so I'm really not aware of what your fasting numbers represent as mine are measured differently. I was diagnosed just under 28 weeks and had a growth scan that indicated my little boys abdomen measured 2 weeks ahead. Whilst a babies head is designed to squash, their shoulders and abdomen are not, so if you intend on a normal vaginal delivery, your baby could get stuck and bones can be broken or dislocated (on the baby). Whilst I really didn't want to be medicating, I'm now on 4 insulin injections a day and it had really helped with my glucose levels. My little boys abdomen is now considered to be in the normal range. I couldn't have changed the results so quickly with first alone and the medicating has helped a great deal. Whilst you might feel that you do not need to medicate, it had likely been suggested for a reason. The further you go in to your pregnancy the higher your intolerance to battling you're glucose levels will become, so whilst you might be just outside the desired parameters, they may creep up on you and it will be your baby that suffers.
And thats exactly why I have my worries. I have read and read that my numbers aren't even considered high enough to medicate
I have gd this pregnancy. Didn't last one. I was told by the dietician that a fasting of 90-95 is fine. Guess I'm not sure why they're trying to medicate you for it.
