Group B Strep?

I found out today that I am positive. my doctor told me it's nothing to worry about that they will just treat me with antibiotics during labor but I'm reading stuff on google that's worrying me. has anyone had this before? was baby okay?

I just found out about it 6wks ago when I was 31wks after I switched doctors. Thank God I did because I would have given birth to my daughter without even knowing I had it. I cried because all I knew about it was that it could harm her but my doctor assured me that it is very unlikely for anything to happen to her as long as it is treated during labor and that she had it with all four of her children.

It can be life threatening if it is not taken care of . I was positive with my first anf she came out fine . Negative with my second so it can all change with each one. As long ad you get the antibiotic, you and baby will be fine.

I was positive for it with my daughter 4 years ago and am positive again with this pregnancy. Everything was fine with my daughter. It is a bacteria that is only harmful to baby during birth. It is not an std or anything dirty and it is quite common. The only thing is they make you stay an extra day in the hospital and you will need antibiotics during labor/birth. Definitely nothing to stress about !
