Has anyone been able to carry to term on bed rest after recurrant miscarriage?

I have had 4 miscarriages, and I am now pregnant again. I am convinced that my job of being on my feet all day running around is not helping me keep my pregnancy, but my RE doesn't agree. She thinks that working hard is not going to hurt me. Has anyone been put on bedrest after having several MC's and was able to carry to term?

How old were the fetus's when you had your miscarriages?  Were any tests performed to try and find out a specific cause for the MC's?  What do you do (are you around any chemicals for instance)?

Not able to vote here, sorry.

Im sorry for your previous losses, sadley bed rest, wont prevent a mc,if its not meant to be.all bed rest will do is slow down the bleeding, being all your feet wont make any difference since many women,
do this.i agree with previous post.make them do tests etc,to see the cause.and congrats on your new pregnancy, there is nothing to say you wont go on to have a healthy pregnancy..

I have been seeing a Reproductive Endocronologist. She has done the full work up on me. She said everything that medical science knows to test for has come back normal. I should have mentioned that we already had 1 healthy child 10 years ago.

Spade 22- The fetus' have all passed between 4 weeks to 9 weeks.
P.S. I am a Pharmacy Tech at a large University Hospital.

It was probably just flukes. But you could also have a bicornuate uterus which is what i have. It has a high chance for multiple miscarries and preterms. Its really hard to find, ive had so many ultrasound from this pregnancy and last pregnancy and only 1 2 months ago detected it. Most of the time it takes them doing a c-section or so to find it. Its pretty common from what ive seen. Its a heart shaped uterus that ranges from mild to severe. Mine is mild but i have an ectopic recently and miscarriages early. Im 18 weeks pregnant.  Im a nervous wreck and im hoping i dont go early especially in a few weeks. But if you DO have one you will be able to carry term eventually. It takes a few tries. I know its hard. Im not saying you have one but its a possibility if everything eles looks good. My mom had 5 misscarries before she had me and my brother and everything is fine with her. just flukes i guess. You get bad sperms or eggs.

I have not heard of a bicornuate Uterus, although if it is found in a C-section, I have had one of those with my son in 1998. Thanks for the info!

Laura,

Im not a medical doctor, but would agree that if the MC are happening in the 1st trimester then bedrest is not likely to help and the MC are happening for another reason (fetus would not be viable if carried to term).  Usually, when complications occur in the 2nd and/or 3rd trimester bedrest is indicated and would prove useful at that time.

Its good that you have been seeing a specialist to try and get to the bottom of this.  You might want to seek a second opinion if you dont feel satisfied with the results or want another persons input.  As others have said, sometimes a MC just happens for no apparent reason and nothing could have been done to prevent it.  I have seen many women on this site who have had several recurring MC's and gone on to have a healthy baby.  Hopefully, you follow in their footsteps in the not to distant future.
