Hcg Levels

To my surprise I found out 2 days ago that I was pregnant. The hospital did a urine test which came back positive and then did the quant. hcg level and it was 1515, and then today it was 2650 so it has almost doubled in 36hrs which it is suppose to do. An ultrasound showed nothing but they said it could take a week or two before it would. I have 2 boys already, and did suffer at m/c at 11wks in 2004...so I am VERY NERVOUS.  Docs told me not to put too much faith into the hcg numbers as it can drive you crazy...but I was just wondering if anyone else out there was going through the same thing....

Thanks
Tracy (mommainnc)

Thanks so much for your kind words and input:) I appreciate it very much! I am excited and terrified all rolled into one. I will say that this is the 1st pregnancy I have had that I have had morning sickness with...good grief! I have 2 boys----leaves me to wonder if this is a girl in the oven:)  You are right though--no worries about what is out of my hands!

Thanks again! And congrats on your baby girl entering the world very soon:)

I want to add that I've been pregnant five times. First pregnancy resulted in a full term baby girl. Then a miscarriage. Followed by another pregnancy with a beautiful baby girl. Then I had a miscarriage in Nov. 08 and got pregnant again (with ANOTHER girl) right away and I'm due this month.

When I was pregnant after that first loss I had a hard time bonding with baby during my pregnancy. So that is why this pregnancy, following another loss, I've put on an entirely different attitude and have enjoyed this pregnancy very much. Good luck and praying for the best!

Tracy, I've had 2 miscarriages before so I completely understand your fear and anxiety. It wasn't until I passed the 12 week mark and then got the 20-week sonogram that showed a very healthy baby that I finally breathed a sigh of relief with my two pregnancies that followed my losses.

I'm currently 38 weeks after having just had a miscarriage before conceiving this sweet baby girl. Those first weeks were definitely tense but I had to trust God and enjoy every moment I was blessed to be pregnant!

That's really the only piece of advice I can offer- don't waste time worrying about what you can't control and instead enjoy every moment you are blessed to be pregnant, whether it's a few weeks or full term!
