Health insurance for baby

Ok ladies this might sound like a dumb question, but I’m really confused so maybe someone can help me.  I’m covered on my parents health insurance until I’m 26, so that’s what I’ve been using throughout this pregnancy.  But what am I supposed to do when the baby is here health insurance wise?  I highly doubt my dad’s insurance will cover my baby, but my husband can’t get family insurance through his work, and  I know the baby needs monthly appointments, and I’m just not sure what I’m supposed to do and when I’m supposed to do it.  Last time we checked we didn’t qualify for medicaid.

your baby would qualify for Medicaid for the first year you just have to bring baby and get it.

I went in yesterday to apply only did my daughter because, like you, I'm under my parents insurance. They said that I have to apply myself and Medicaid will be my secondary insurance and she can only be added once she's born because they need proof that she's a US citizen.

Apply for your step daughter and then son. You'll need proof that he's been born to apply for him.  It helps if you already have a case with medicaid.

Jm in same boat but Medicaid won't turn down a baby or pregnant lady with no insurance you just have to go to the health department and talk to them about it so that the baby is covered once he is born and you don't end up with  bunch of hospital bills.

Thank you ladies! I just looked up chip & it sounds like just what I need to try. l probably try for Medicaid first just to make sure. Do you have to wait to apply after the baby is born? My stepdaughter isn't insured & we have full custody, luckily she never gets sick, but would it be easier to get her on Medicaid or chip and then add the baby?
