Heartbeat?!?!?!

Question

So today I'm 12 weeks 4 days pregnant and I had my second appt today. Last time I forgot to ask what the heart beat was but today I finally asked the tech lady and she said it was 161. Now here's my questions.....First off, the baby had the hiccups, so do you think the heart beat would have normally been slower? And Second, I know that old wives tales say that anything over 140 is a girl and under 140 then it would be a boy...so I was curious as to if it came out true for any of you, I'm really hoping for a girl..lol. Of course either way, I will be happy!

I am in my 30th week right now, and I am with Leighanne... my baby's heartbeat was almost exactly the same as her baby's at the same points in her pregnancy, and she is having a boy and I am having a girl :)  So, there is no truth to it... that's why it is a tale :)  

Her heartbeat is still in the 150s... later in your pregnancy (like where I am) the doctors like to see it between 130-160.  So, my little girl's heartbeat is always on the high end of that spectrum.

well at my 13 wk appt hb was at 140 at my 20 wks it was at 162 and it's a GIRL

well you cant go by heartbeat... lol.. but im almost 30 weeks with a boy and his heartbeat stays around 159-165 so not always true about the rate. my last one stayed in the high 150'a and that one came out a BOY>> good luck to you and sending you some baby girl dust. merry christmas......

Up until 18w my son's hb was about 150 and now, I am 23w and it is 132...I honestly don't think there is any truth to the tale...and I am not sure if the  hiccups would have interfered with the hb...

i am pregnant with a boy and the wives tale is false in my case.  my little guy's heratbeat was always high in the 160-170's the first 16 weeks and since then has always been between 140-150.

my sons heartbeat was around 140s to 150s and with this one which is a girl is around the 150s
