Heartburn/acid reflux/acid indigestion

I've been on zantac 150mg twice a day since around 11 weeks, and over the last 36 hours it's not working as well...what else can I do? I'm not going to take any other medication on top of the zantac. I'm trying drinking milk, and it's not really helping much...

I got such bad heart burn my whole pregnancy with my first daughter. It would get so bad I would throw up from it. I took all the antacid I could and there were still times it was unbarable. My dad actually eventually taught me a great trick that is kinda icky but works like a charm. Drink baking soda and water mixed. It will make you burp within seconds and with every burp you'll start to feel better. Oh and you know the old wives tale that if you have a lot of heart burn during pregnancy that your kid will have lots of hair? Well, that's a lie. My daughter came out totally bald and is four now and her hair is super super short still almost looks like I shave it lol. Anyway I hope this helps!

Oh and it can't be the generic or it doesn't work for me I have to buy the OTC Zantac instead of my insurance paying for the generic.

I've had severe acid reflux this whole pregnancy. If I let my stomach get empty it gets worse. I make sure I eat every few hours. I take 150mg Zantac every 12 hours. Sometimes I take it early because I'm in so much pain. Certain foods do make it worse. You just have to learn which ones trigger it for you more than others. Try not to eat greasy food they make it worse.

If we all went by the book of what we can and cant eat, what we are and are not allowed to do, we might as well be on crackers and water and in bed for 9 months LOL.

My midwife just shrugged off my Reflux and migraines saying they will go away by 20 weeks. Lets hope so!

Try Yoghurts?? Might help, or Icecream. When you get that burning sensation... might cool it down :)

I didn't know if you could or not...I'm not the biggest fan of yogurt so I never thought about whether it's ok or not...there's so many things you're not supposed to eat, I just wanted to make sure...

My next dr's appointment isn't until Sept 10. I'm either gonna have to wait it out, or call L&D if it gets too bad...they can actually talk to me now since I'm more than 20 weeks...

Why can't you eat yogurt when pregnant?  I've never heard that you couldn't.  I would ask your doctor what else you can do but I don't know if they can give you anything else.  Sorry, wish I was more helpful.

Can you eat yogurt when you're pregnant?

I tried mylanta before I got the zantac, I had it prescribed to me because nothing else was working...and the zantac was working up to now...
