MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi!
!f you were my patient, I would advise you that you should speak to lots of ladies about home births before you decide it is right for you.  I don't know why anyone would want to take a chance of something happening to the most precious person you will ever meet--that's the way I think of it--not whether there is pain or not, but whether there is someone there who can expertly take care of my baby if anything goes wrong. Hospitals are so great now--they are like fancy hotels.  They clean up the mess when everything is over.  They have pain medication if it is needed.  They don't force it on you if it is not.  They have trained professionals to intervene if an emergency happens.  Granted that is rare, and thank goodness it is rare!
Talk to lots of other women before you decide to risk your baby.
Good luck!

My sister had an at home birth; I was very proud of her. She did it for health reasons. It's easier on the baby and more relaxing for mom too! You get to go at your own pace and no doctors are forcing pitocin on you to speed up the process. I strongly recommend that all women thinking of TTC or are pregnant watch 'The Business of Being Born' with Ricki Lake. Very informative and important! My sister had a great team of Midwifes and doulas that she trusted. She did run into trouble because the baby's cord was to short so everytime she'd push and then take a breath to push again, the baby would go back up into the birth canal. The wonderful people helping, encouraged her to go in for an emergency C-Section because she was so tired and the baby's heart rate started to drop a bit. My sister reluctantly agreed. The reason I'm sharing this with you is so that you feel reassured that even if things go wrong, as long as you have a certified Midwife/Doula that you trust the experience can be very rewarding. My sister is planning on TTC again this spring and plans on having another at home birth. Her experience did not dissuade her! I hope you have a wonderful at home experience and regardless of where you end up having your baby, I'm sure he/she will be beautiful!! All the best to you!!

April 15th. Ya both the doctors and nurses would try and scare me into doing what they wanted I think it is because they think I'm young and stupid. Im 20 years old but when it comes to my cchild I'm gonna research the crap out of everything lol

I'm 20 having a home birth with my second child. My first was in hospital all natural no pain meds at all. Not even an epidural. And let me tell you it was the worst experience  emotionaly. My ob turned into a duchebag and all the nurses were absolutely rude because I told them what I wanted not what they wanted.

I can tell you now you are taking a major risk the fact that your 21 doing a birth without epidural.....emergency happen when its time to push like being ripped or cut from the tooda to the rooda

Lol. Well no they dont have that at home births. But the pain u feel is from tensing up. If you learn to relax properly it doesnt hurt so much. My mother-in-law had home births 9 times and she said the first few were kinda painful but when she learned to relax and let her body do its thing she didnt have any pain.
