How early can you test for pregnancy?

I ordered some HCG? test strips online.........I'm just curious how many days before your period can you tell if your pregnant? Or is it even possible to read it that early???? I just want to know how soon my hcg levels will change?

FYI the dollar store type HPT detected my pregnancy 4 days before my missed period.  I researched them online and they detect the same amout of HCG as the first response does.  I like to take more than one for confirmation so instead of paying $20 I paid $2.00 for 2 test!!!  Great deal!!!

Ok so I should be recieving the test strips this week they were from early pregnancy tests.com...........my last period started Feb 27th but that was right after the Mirena was removed even though it was within my average cycle start date so my flow stopped the 5th and after that we have been trying to get pg since. From all the ovulation calculator results they show I should be ovulating anywhere from the 9th to the 13th or so.....I'm guessing I can start testing next weekend around the 21st???????? Any suggestions on when I should start testing I ordered several strips this anticipation is driving me BANANAS! Especially now that my doctor is recommending a coposcopy!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm really scared I want to verify if I am pg before the coposcopy! My Dr. doesn't seem too concerned that its possible I could be pregnant by then the coposcopy is scheduled for the 26th!!!

I got my positive 5 days before my period with both a First Response and a HPT from early-pregnancy-tests.com.
