How long does induction take?

I am going to be induced tonight at midnight and its my first time, and was wondering how long does it initially take? Its my first time but with my second child; my other one came on her own naturally; and no C-section, and healthy 9 labs, but this one is almost 9 lbs, anyone else have a case like this? I am also older, just turned 34 years old... and only 5'1 tall.... which is worrisome too.

Joshua is here the day I posted this, I end up with bloody show a couple hours later,  and headed into hospital and started having close contractions and delivered the next day,  In afternoon, he was 7 lbs 14 oz,  20 inches long and I used epidural at 5 Cm dilated,  pushed him out vaginally in 15 minutes, no pain but alot of vomiting during delivery due to gestational diabetes no doubt,  we both made it and both  healthy and healing :-) very blessed how wonderful it is,  so worth all the pains :-)

You will do great just think positive. The pain is worth the little bundle of joy you get in return. They said my daughter was 10 pounds and she was born 8lbs 3oz so try not to worry too much. :) you made it thru one birth you can do it again.

Thank you ladies doctor plans to do epidural at 5 cm he took out my membrane yesterday morning,  I hope it don't take to long,  I did epidural first time,  a life saver since first baby was 9 pounds an vaginal birth, my current one is at 8 lbs maybe more, head down at least,  so hoping no c-section,  he did talk of two drugs to use to ease pain,  and
At midmidnight!?   I'm gonna be so sleepy..

The first time i was induced I had something inserted up there that was taken out 12 hours later. I believe it was used to ripen the cervix. After that they broke my water and I had my daughter within 8 hours. I was also induced last July and I went into the hospital 5pm, they broke my water the following day, and I had my other daughter at 2pm. It hurt worse than natural labor in my eyes but everyone is different. Recoverywas normal 4-6 weeks although I was feeling good by 2-3 weeks. I also didn't get an epidural, if you do that you may have less pain. Good luck :)

Anywhere from 24-48 hours depending on how the induce you. Could lead to a c section

With my first pregnancy I was 8 days overdue and was induced. From the time they started the pitocin to delivery was about 12 hours. It took about 2 hours for contractions to start. My sister had to get induced with her second 3 weeks early for medical reasons and it took 72 hours. Every person is different.
