Feed ur baby as much as it wants don't give it a limit
If he's not hungry he won't feed and every two hours is normal especially for bottle fed babies, as long as he's getting a good amount of wet nappies there's nothing to worry about. If you're still concerned though ask your midwife :) congrats
Your baby's Dr should tell you. I took my baby to the Dr's when he was 3 days old cause she wanted to weigh him and see if his doing good at home. And my baby's Sr told me how much my baby should be drinking. It kinda depends on the individual baby too. So just ask your baby's pediatrician they would tell you (: good luck no need to worry momma (:
The rule of thumb, for formula fed babies, is 2.5 ounces of formula per pound of body weight. So an 8 pound baby should get 20 oz of formula per day.
Is your baby getting 48 ounces? Bottle fed babies do run the risk of being very overweight, where breastfed babies are usually advised to feed on demand as much as they want.
I'd call your pediatrician on this one, kelly, if this schedule continues. it sounds like that's way too much - but baby appetites vary a lot and he may stop eating like that in a day or two.
He was born 7 pounds 14 oz. and he eats 2 ounces to 4 ounces every two hours.
You might want to count for a couple 24 hour days, and add it up and see where you are - if he's a "butterball" you might want to talk to your pediatrician about amounts.
Best wishes. Sounds like he's a good eater!
Lol I called him a butterball because he was born big. But thanks..
I've noticed that whenever my daughter drank from a bottle she would drink until it's empty instead of stopping when she was full like when she was breastfeeding.
