I need to work

I am 24 years old and about 6 weeks pregnant. I am a professional welder with the Boilermakers Union. I usually work in steel mills and oil refineries. I realize I can't go to these places and risk the inhalation of lead, carbon monoxide and other harmful substances, but would it be alright to weld in a small shop if I wear a respirator and only work 8 hours a day? I am afraid I will not be able to use my skills as a metal worker through my pregnancy but I can't afford not to work. Thank you!

What did you end up doing through your pregnancy? I am also a pregnant welder working on ships. Just curious to see if they pulled you from work.
