I recently started dating a woman and had unprotected sex with her on February 1st, 2009.?

She had another sexual partner before me and they had unprotected sex on January 15th 2009. To give more info, she was supposed to start her period on February 1st and found out on Feb 10th that she is pregnant. Her last Period started on Jan 1st and lasted until Jan 10th. Her menstral cycles are irregular. She mentioned that she had a period in November and did not have one in December. She mentioned that there is a possiblity that she ovulated very late in her cycle and the baby could be mine? Is IT?

Bravo!  I think we all handled this like pros!

I too agree that a paternity test would be the BEST solution however, when I was on and sean posted I noticed he wasn't getting any replies so I was trying to provide him with as much information as I could regarding his situation albeit it was difficult given the limited information and the situation with irregular periods.

Thank you for all of you who saw through the situation and even posted in journals about this.

I agree with sweetangel and the information she provided about ovulation.  Granted, not all women ovulate the same, but for you to have had sex on the 1st of Feb and her to find out 9 days later that she's pregnant ...that's a little 'fishy' to me.  The baby is most likely her previous partners.  But, as others have said, to be completely sure you need to get a paternity test done.  That's the only definitive way you'll know who's baby it is.

As for Heather and her rude and unfounded comments ... perhaps she should remember to read the disclaimer on the left side of the screen before posting and trying to start a war:

LOL I was just thinking the same thing as kiki! But I totally agree with Sweetangel and LauraB... the tracker seems pretty acurate... best way to determine would be to get a paternity test!

I have to agree with sweetangel 100%!
However, please, please, please get a paternity test!
Unfortunately people lie sometimes so I would just find out for yourself once its born.
Good Luck!

Her first ultrasound should give you an estimated date of conception based on the development of the baby. Still not a definate answer, but it may help.

I too agree w/ the ovulation information posted from sweetangel and others.  I am on pregnancy #6, so I know a little bit about it.  But I also agree that a paternity test is the only way to know for sure.  If you based her pregnancy from her LMP, then I am sorry to say, but I think chances are, it is her previous partner's baby.  Again, especially with her having irregular cycles, a paternity test is the way to go.  I know they can do one in the hospital when the baby is born by simply swabing the inside of the baby's mouth.

Best of luck to you!

With her cycles being messed up, and not regular it's hard to put an accurate date on it. Even if she ovulated really late she found out 9 days after you two had sex that she was pregnant. From that it normally takes 14 days for a home pregnancy test to come up positive. She may have taken the 5 day early test, but I would say that it's probably the other guys. However, I would do a DNA test after the baby is born. If she was regular it would be pretty clean cut.

I'd say it's more likely it's the other guy's baby, butagree that a dna test is the only way to know for sure. they can do them whilst baby is in the womb, but it may be expensive and probably carries a 1% chance of miscarriage, as with amniocentisis

The ONLY way to know for sure is a paternity test. Were you aware that your partner had 1st had unprotected sex with someone else the week or two before? I am just wondering why there was no protection used? You may want to get tested for STD's as well since clearly she is already pregnant, there is no preventing that..

The ovluation information given above, I agree with. But it is all really hard to guess, especially if here cycles aren't predictable. Best of luck and keep us posted. Was your partner wanting to get pregnant?

I'm glad to see that you are a new member and are joining our forum...Can you please explain your views for sean so he can see the error of our ways (or lack there of).

With the information that he gave, the information we gave was as accurate as could be.

It is funny you say we should do some research because I got the ovulation information directly from MedHelp.  Perhaps you should contact MedHelp to revise their information if you feel it is so ill composed.

Instead of just bashing our answers and confusing the original poster, you need to propose your answer and your researched support.

You guys are all misinformed, and I'm sorry that as women, you know so very little about the female body and its processes.

Maybe you should do a little more research before misinforming people.

I agree with the dates posted from Sweetangel. If you had sex on february 1st. she would've already ovulated. so this makes me think it's from her previous partner.

Hope you find your answer.

Good luck to you

Most women have 28—32 day cycles and ovulation can take place during days 11-21 of the menstrual cycle.

Using an ovulation calendar, I put in her last period and it said she was possibly fertile from the 13th of Jan. through the 23rd of Jan.

Good luck!

Jan. 15th would have been close to ovulation time in a woman with a normal cycle...Even if she ovulated later, sperm can live up to three days...so if she ovulated on the 18th, the incident on the 15th could have caused the pregnancy...
