I wish I had this problem (if you want to call it that), but.....

Have you ever heard of a women losing 25 pounds in 10 days after delivering her baby?  My daughter gained 39 lbs on her small frame and has already lost that much weight.  She is no longer b/f due to medicines she had to take postpartum (she had a few complications).

I wish I had lost weight like that after I delivered my kids, but do you think that is too much, too soon?  I am a little worried.

I noticed that when I lost weight that quick I had extra flabby skin around my belly. Although im happy to lose the weight, I try to do it slowly, however you have to think, a normal pregnant woman gains atleast 30 pounds, not all of that is from eating lol. Take the babies weight, a few gallons of water (atleast in my case) which could be 5 to 10 pounds, the placenta which is about 6 pounds according to my doc. You end up losing a lot of your pregnancy weight at the delivery, but the extra pounds shed fast especially if your breastfeeding.

I agree with all the other ladies! It's okay to lose almost all the weight within the first two weeks. Unfortunately for me, I gained my BACK! Ugh!!!

No such luck on any type of apology.  That would require someone to take responsibility (liability) for their mistake and you know they would NEVER do that..... We should have known there would be some problems from the start.  When the anesthesiologist did the first epidural, he spilled spinal fluid and pulled out the needle.  He then went to the next space down in the spine and did it over again.  It didn't take well at all and she had about 1 hr of relief over a 12 hour labor.  It just wouldn't work correctly.

Unfortunately, you sign away your righhts if there are problems with the epidural, which covers this type of "mistake".  It would have to be a horrific mistake for them to take on that liability.  But, when you are in pain, you just don't care and you would sign anything to get that relief (epidural).  I should know - - - I had one with both of my kids' labors...

Personally, I had an epidural with my first pregnancy that caused my labor to stop. Only happens in 3% of patients or something like that. So, I am going to try the natural process this time around. So the epidural was done incorrectly and that was the cause of her problems. Amazing... Did you guys get an apology at the very least from the hospital?

Thank you for asking about the spinal headache.  That was such a mess - - - she couldn't lift her head at all, or it would be excruciating pain.  We waited a couple of days and then started calling to talk to the anesthesiologist, who referred us to the OB, who said to take medicine and it would pass, ugh.  By the fifth day (Monday), it wasn't getting better, so we made an appt with a Neurologist and he sent her back to the hospital immediately to have a blood patch done.  If you are not familiar with that process, they do ANOTHER epidural, but inject your own blood into the epidural space.  Your blood creates a seal over the hole that is leaking the spinal fluid.  Immediately, her headache disappeared.

She was just about to get discharged fromt he hospital when she started getting these horrible back spasms.  The doctor ended up admitting her overnight and gave her moriphine to manage the pain.  They discharged her the next day and only in the last 2 days has she been able to walk around (12 days postpartum).

It was an unfortunate series of events, but she is finally on the mend.  She truly believed that she had nerve damage from the botched epidurals, but I think over time, her back will heal.  I think this experience will make her think twice about ever getting another epidural.

How are you doing?  Only a few more days, right???

You all made me feel better.  I was worried that she was losing at a dangerous pace, but she also isn't eating too well during her recovery period.  Grandma will have to fix that :)

Thanks!!

I lost 20 lbs within a week of delivery.  I had a lot of water weight on me.  I gained about 40 lbs the whole pregnancy.  Also when I stopped b/f I lost more weight.  After almost 6 months post birth I have about 3 more lbs to lose.  Although I would like to lose 10 more to get down to marriage weight!  HA, like that will happen!

after the birth of my second, I had so much water weight from swelling that within a week of leaving the hospital (and taking a diuretic) I lost almost 30 lbs.

this is my 4th and usually i get right up to about 150lbs each pregnancy.  i think around that same time frame i'm about down to at least 130lbs then i get to work to loose the rest of the 7-8 lbs i want to loose...  but yea, i think that's ok!!!  :)

Nope not at all. A lot of the weight you carry around is your waters, the baby and all the extra junk in there. When you give birth you loose a lot of the weight in the first couple of days.
