Induction ?

To the ladies that have had an induction before, what was it like? I've heard it intensifies labor, is that true? I'm a ftm, I'm 39w5d today. I go to the dr tomorrow morning & I'm sure she'll mention induction. I've been 4-5cm & 90% effaced since my 37wk appt, I haven't been checked since I was 38w2d, so I'm hoping I've made more progress since then. My little man is due Saturday & it's looking like he's going to be stubborn...I'm not having any contractions, bloody show, or anything. If rather him come on his own, but if it comes down to getting induced then that's okay. I just want to know what to expect. So any stories and/or advice will be much appreciated! Thanks! :)

I was in labor for 6 hours. But I dialated from 6 to 10 in less than an hour, surprising everyone lol. It varies from person to person.

It really depends on your body how long your labor is. There is no approximate time. I was induced with my first and thought that I could handle the contractions once they started coming but boy oh boy was I wrong. I was only in active labor for like 30min.

Thanks for all the feedback ladies! :) And approximately how long is labor once you're induced? Is it generally faster than natural labor? And what happens if it doesn't work correctly?

I've been induced both my pregnancies and yes the contractions are stronger thats what it's meant for to get your labor going. But I agree with @kennimae keep an open mind in case things take a different direction. Best wishes! ;)

When I was induced I was 4cm dialated and 100% effaced already. At first I couldn't really tell a difference between some contractions I had already had and the ones from the pitocin. After they broke my water though, oh boy it did hurt. I don't know what it would of felt like if I had done it naturally, but the contractions I had were very intense. I did get an epidural though, so I'm not much help after that. Good luck yall!

With an induction I would go in with an open mind. Know what you want but also be om if it doesn't go that way. I went in and my water broke but they had to put me on pitocin because I wasn't contracting like they wanted.

I didn't get to do my induction today.. Instead they scheduled it to Monday so im wondering the same thing. lol. I'm the same week/day as you and I'm only 1cm dilated and not effaced. He's really being stubborn.
