Infection/UTI During Pregnancy

At 15 weeks pregnant I had a really high white blood cell count in my urine. My gyne suggested that I have a UTI. I had no symptoms thereof. I was put on nitrofurantoin for 7days.  I finished the course and now 3 days after I finished the antibiotics I tested my urine and the leukocytes/white blood cells are still very high.
What other infections/circumstances can cause this? I am very concerned as I only can reach my Dr. on Monday.

Thanks

Hi there.  Gosh, to be honest, I don't know how quickly the white blood cells will not be in your urine after infection.  You were on antibiotics, which should knock out infection, right? You could also have inflammation of the urinary tract which would result in white blood cells in urine, but bacterial UTI is the most common cause.  Some women have Sterile pyuria which is persistent white blood cells in urine without any bacterial infection at all. That's not super common and usually having white blood cells means UTI or kidney issue.  They will likely check you for these again.  How can you test for these on your own at home?

Do you see your doctor today? Let me know what they say!

Hi specialmom,

I tested my urine with dipsticks that test for things such as ketones, leukos, Ph level and so on. I phoned the Dr. today and they yold me that I must test my urine in a lab. But I have to wait for 10 days after my last antibiotics. So I will get that done next week and keep you posted.
Ugh, I hate waiting!  Hopefully they made you feel better though.  You don't have any symptoms of anything which is good.  Yes, please let me know what happens.  Are you going to find out if you are having a boy or a girl?  :>)  I think 20 weeks is around when we could find out.
