Is 7 days late too early to get an at home pregnancy test?

I am a 28 year old mother of one and have been wanting another child for the past couple a years, but me and my partner haven't really been trying, but we aren't using protection either.  We've just been seeing what happened or letting nature take its course.  For the past 8 years my period is almost always 28 days between.  I am now 6 days late and come Sunday I will be 35 days between.  In the meantime I have been lightly cramping (period like) for the past 4 days, which is abnormal I usually only cramp for a day or two.  My breasts are tender, I've been abnomally tired and my stomach has been a little sick in the mornings, I have not gotten sick but just feel sick.  If I take an over the counter pregnancy test is it early enough for a pregnancy to show?

Sometimes it is faint- it's not any indication of a failing pregnancy.

a line is a line, pretty much everyone will tell you that. even if its faint its still a line there has to be some amount of hcg (pregnancy hormone) in your urine for a second line to even faintly show up..so id say its very likely that you are indeed pregnant..congrats! GL at the dr.s!

I took a generic test the other day and it said positive in like 10 seconds.  So I went and purchased a first response test that came with two.  Both of them had two lines however the second line was pretty light.  If you are negative will there be no second line at all?  The lightness makes me nervous.  Which I am planning on making a doctors appointment this week anyways, but do you guys have experience with this problem?

Nope!  Even a day late can give you a positive result.  I got my positive from a $Dollar Store test the day my period was due!

So, good ahead and test, and good luck!!

With this pregnancy I found out 6 days before  my period was due, so you should have no problem with a home test. Like jen said first response is the best. It's the only one I trust. I also had a lot of cramping for the first weeks and even months of pregnancy with this one. Go get a test and let us know. Good luck!

My daughter took a home pregnancy test when she was only a day late and it gave her a very obvious positive. The best one is the first response early pregnancy test, it can detect pregnancy 5 days BEFORE your missed period. I went on the pregnancy due date calculator and entered your last period of 3/24/09 and 28 days of cycles and if you are pregnant your estimated date of conception is 4/8/09 making you 5 wks, 2 days and due on 12/29/09 (cool date!) Goodluck!
