JUST ADVICE. Not a question! :)

First time mommies, if you don't plan on breastfeeding for whatever reason, you should most definitely reconsider. Dr. told me 6-12 months of breastfeeding is best for baby. I will be doing it for 8 months :) it is waaaaaay healthier than formula and helps the brain and organs develop like nothing else will as well. I know some chicks say "I don't want saggy boobs" or dumb stuff like that but, would you rather have saggy boobs or a healthy baby? If you can breastfeed, DO. just a little advice. That is all :)

Josiahsmommy00 I know, I am a pediatric RN, however vitamin D is not really passed through breast milk so your prenatals would only benefit you in that sense. There are drops, and they aren't prescription, they can be bought OTC

RachelAH136 I also didn't mean to offend you in any way, and I apologize if I did. I just felt the need to advocate for the women sitting silently behind their phones or keyboards wondering if they are bad moms because so many people on this forum (not yourself) bash mothers for not wanting to breastfeed. Either way baby is getting nourishment and no mommy should ever feel down for her decision. :-)

Knufrio- if you were to take a vitamin pill or continue taking your prenatals then your baby would get everything that they need

I apologize if I made it seem like those who don't or can't breastfeed are failures as mothers because that wasn't even close to what I was trying to get across. I said, if you can, then do. If you can then yes formula feed. Its the best alternative. I meant because breastfeeding helps with the post partum that can occur afterwards, also with losing the baby weight. It has mom benefits as well and I'm not saying or trying to think I'm a know it all, I'm just giving advice that was given to me by many doctors and a midwife. Also, I wasn't saying that you have no overall bond if you don't do it its just a bonding experience. For the brain and organs part, I was told it gets the development process going a lot faster and it help with constipation as well. I wasn't saying that those who formula feed have unhealthy children or they aren't smart because that's not what I meant at all. Just thought I'd clarify that.

RachelAH136 I just feel like formula feeding moms are made to feel like failures or that they don't have their child's beat interest in mind. Yes breast feeding is considered the best but there are tons of reasons women can't do it. Sometimes baby doesn't tolerate it at all and needs formula. I personally will be doing a combo of both breast and formula since breast milk doesnt contain adequate amounts of vitamin D and formula has more vitamin K which is beneficial for developing intestinal flora.

Breast feeding is the one of the best gifts a mother can give her baby. And it's a gift in itself to do it. I love breast feeding and it's one of the things I'm looking the most forward to when I have my 2nd son :)

I'm not saying formula is the worst thing I'm just saying the better option. If you can't, then I'm sure those babies will be just as healthy. I meant with the development of the brain and organs its very very healthy.

Completely agree with you knufrio! My son was formula fed from 4wks old due to complications and it wasn't expensive, he's very intelligent, he's not overweight, we bonded well, and he slept through the night from 10wks. I'll be skipping the heartbreak and going straight to the bottle this time.

Yes, formula is a common option but, then you don't get to experience the breastfeeding bond. Also, the health benefits of breastfeeding out weigh formula benefits.

She didn't say you couldn't but breast is best and that's fact... There is a reason doctors and midwives push so hard for women to breast feed and it's not to keep their boobs nice and perky! Lol

Thanks for the tips. Fingers crossed that your breastfeeding experience goes well. I'm pro feeding hungry babies however the individual chooses to achieve that.

Thank you! I know I am an FTM and as soon as I took the Breastfeeding class and learned the benefits not only for the baby but the benefits for the mom as well! I was completely sold! It's amazing I can't even consider a different option at this point!
