I'm 37 weeks and a few friends told me to do jumping jacks.. Wouldn't this be unsafe?

I did jumping Jack's & squats & walked around my house & had my son the next day but I was little farther then you are. But never knew it was harmful.

Yes,  jumping jacks are harmful.

But also,  what causes you to attempt to find out if jumping jacks are harmful,  is also harmful.  With just a "yes or no" answer about jumping jacks,  it leaves the poster (and the reading public) to seek other ways - like,  okay,  how about castor oil?  How about eating baking soda?

Babies are very,  very inconvenient little folks,  and you have to start out your motherhood surrendering to the inconvenience,  and surrender to self-sacrifice.

So yes,  moms can't wait to meet their little ones and want them early.  Moms are tired of being huge so they want them early.  Moms are worried they will be unable to lose all their weight so they want them early.

That's not best practice,  though.  Best practice is to carry your baby until the little bun is done,  not until you're tired of carrying it.

Yes, you're right jumping jacks would harm the baby. Just relax, I know it's hard, but baby will come when they please. Congrats on being so close. And your baby wouldn't be premature, 37 weeks is considered full term. Good luck momma

Yes,  it can bring on premature labor.  Which is probably what your friends goal is.

I don't get it.  Why in the world do women want to have their babies prematurely?  I get that everyone is ready to be done with pregnancy,  but really,  how selfish to want to deny your baby his/her best start in life so the mom doesn't have to waddle around a few more weeks.

Livestrong.com recommends not doing jumping jacks in the third trimester.  Walking and moving around in general is great,  though.

Best wishes for a very healthy delivery!
