Kids birthday party dilemma

So I have a 9 month old daughter who will turn 1 a month after I give birth to my 2nd daughter. I lost my job half way through my pregnancy so my boyfriend financially supports us. He makes good money so we're not struggling but the cost of the kind of party I want to throw my daughter will put a strain on us since we need to buy a double stroller, carseat etc b4 this baby gets here. So I was thinking I could just take her to get pictures taken, out 2 eat and cake and ice cream later and then have a "celebration" at  the end of January when we get our tax return. Does this sound like  a good idea? I just want her 1st birthday to be special. Her birthday is Dec 29th btw
