Sorry I haven't been on in a while to give my labor story but on 6-4-14 at 7:38pm my little Princess was born! I had a doctors appointment at 10 and when my midwife checked me I was 4cm dilated so she suggested I walk around the mall, eat a little and head over to the hospital....I was so happy! At 1:30p I went to the hospital and they hooked me up to the monitor to check her heart beat, a little after 2p.... As I was laying on my side I felt a pop in my stomach, almost like a balloon popping so I had my boyfriend get the nurse and she said that feeling could've been the babies head moving around, well it was definitely not something I've ever felt before! Haha About five minutes later a gush of fluid just poured out of me haha so again, I had my boyfriend get the nurse, she came in to check and my water had broke, mi was so happy because I wanted to experience all of that on my own. That's when all the "fun" started haha at first the contractions weren't so bad, probably for the first hour or so, I think at that point they were five minutes apart! Well after that hour passed that's when they were starting to become unbearable, my midwife came in to check me and I was 5-6 centimeters dilated.... She suggested I walk a little to get things moving along. I'm thinking to myself I've been in bed for the past couple hours, hot as hell, nauseas, and the contractions were so intense and about 3 minutes apart.... i was also hooked up to get antibiotics ( group b strep positive ) I didn't want to go anywhere but since I wanted my baby to come I would do anything at that point. I end up getting up, water trickling down my leg, my boyfriend holding the machine for the IV and myself at the same time as we walk out of the room...I take a couple steps and the contraction started so im bending over until it ends, we walk a few more steps and the same thing. I'm miserable at this point because all I wanted to do was sit down. We walked down the hall and that was all I could take, we get back to the room and I had to use the bathroom so bad ( just to go pee and also to sit ) so as I'm sitting down I start feeling sick to my stomach so my boyfriend runs to get the garbage can, nothing came out. I scream for my mom to tell her I need an epidural, she suggested something to calm me down instead of that ( I had a bad reaction to the epidural with my son ) but I yelled and said I don't care, get the nurse I NEED IT NOW!!!! I finally get off the toilet, probably twenty minutes later haha and my midwife comes in to see how I'm doing and she sees how tired and in pain i'm in so she said she'll have the nurse call for the anesthesiologist.... She also said that its good that I was feeling sick because that's my body transitioning into the final stage of labor. Before the anesthesiologist came in she checked me again and I was at 7 dilated. With my son, almost 7 years ago I only dilated to 6 centimeters and that's when my doctor decided I wouldn't progress anymore so he told me I would need a cesarean and that was only after 5 hours of active labor... so I was very happy I went past that! Anyway, everyone left the room at about 6:20p so I could get the epidural, that's when the contractions were the worst so I was very happy when that needle went in my back haha after the epidural was put in, all my family was still waiting outside, and at this point it was about 6:45p.... them 7p hits and still no one was in the room but I was so relaxed at this point because the epidural kicked in and the only thing I felt was pressure in my butt. I call my boyfriend and tell him to get in here before our daughter is born. My boyfriend, my mother and his mother come strolling in thinking they would've been called by one of the nurses so that's why they didn't come in so quick. At about 7:10 my midwife checks me and I'm 10 freaking centimeters dilated and ready to push. I was so happy because all I wanted was a successful vbac and my wish was coming true! Whenever I felt the pressure in my butt I pushed, I pushed as hard as I could ( of course I pooped but that's Ok haha ) after that I just focused and pictured holding my daughter. Twenty minutes later she was here, my beautiful baby girl Adriana was born on Wednesday, June 4th at 7:38p weighing in at 7 pounds 1 ounce and 17 1/2 inches long. She is so precious and I'm so in love with her. After she was born I was able to do skin to skin right away and that was definitely a good bonding experience! I'm still so very happy I had a successful vaginal birth after cesarean. I hope you all enjoyed reading my story!
