Late period, unsure about what my symptoms mean, and negative pregnancy tests

I am 18 years old and 7 days late for my period. My period was due on October 18th. I normally have a fairly consistent period. I had sex on October 5th through the 7th (very close if not during ovulation) unprotected, no birth control and haven't had sex since then. I am having diarrhea, headaches, slight nausea and have had period-like cramps for about two weeks, which are progressively getting worse. I don't think it's focused on one particular side. If I had to pick one, I'd say right but I've definitely had them on my left side too. Had a very light white discharge for a day, now it seems a little like "leaking". Seems like discharge but has been completely clear. Slight back pain. Really tired and irritable. Have been having a lot of trouble sleeping. No other symptoms and two negative First Response pregnancy tests. Could I be pregnant? Maybe an ectopic pregnancy? Or something else completely?

Hi!
If you were my patient, I would repeat the pregnancy test now and then again in one week.  If the tests continue to be negative  then you are probably not pregnant, and can trust the tests. Another option would be to do a blood test.  I also want to remind you about Plan B for those times when it would be appropriate.
Good luck!

I think it could be IBS and stress of thinking your pregnant thats why your period may not have came.

Not everyone gets a positive on pregnancy tests... I have been reading a few forums and some of the females have said they didnt get a positive until they were 4 months gone and the doctor kept on telling them they werent pregnant... one lady said she had negative tests all the way threw her pregnancy till the day she gave birth... everyones body is different someone on one of the forums was talking about a criptic pregnancy I think its called maybe google that and have a read... Im going through that at the moment the tests come back neg but I still have all the symptoms so Im just waiting to see if I have a period this month and if not i'll be asking my doctor for an ultrasound

If I was you I would deff. Go to the Dr. I am 20 years old and now 25 weeks pregnant and I took my test 8 days after missed period and it came up immediately. But I do agree if you are having cramps and can not go to the bathroom take a stool softness they work wonders. I did get constipated at the beginning of my pregnancy. But to me it doesn't not sound right with everything going on. I would say make an appointment with your primary Dr to see what's going on.

Same thing is happening to me right now. I did go see a doctor and they did a blood test and it came back negative. The nurse wants me to go back on meds to get my period. I'm just concerned because there are a lot of fertility issues in my family and I would never forgive myself if I took something and it resulted in a miscarriage. I'm waiting a bit longer before I go back to the doctor. Btw, my last period was September 25th. I'm now 4 weeks late.

Thanks everyone! Still no period and experiencing shortness of breath, slight lower abdominal discomfort, lower back pain and when I poop (or try to) my cramps get a little worse like pressure is being put on them. I'm getting a urine test at the health department tomorrow but I'm not sure I trust it. I really would prefer an ultrasound or blood test but my OBG/YN thinks I'm crazy and that I need to be put on birth control. I know PMS and this is NOT PMS.

Hey, I, just wanted to tell you that I've had two pregnancies, my first one I did not find out I was pregnant until I was I think 13 Weeks along. And I always had irregular periods, so I didn't really think that I needed to double check with a doctors appointment when my period was extremely light. However I started having bad stomach cramps and discharge so I kept taking home tests just in case and they all said negative. I conceived in June of 2011, and did not get a positive until August 2011. So instances like that don't normally happen a lot, but its possible. Proof being that I got a positive test with my current pregnancy at 5 Weeks. I hope this helps you, and as far as done advice for you, you can either wait and continue taking home tests if you keep having symptoms, or go to the doctor and get both a urine and blood tests done. If you don't have insurance and can't afford that then go to the hospital with the abdominal pain complaint and missed period and they may run a ultrasound. Good luck honey

I've had some of these same issues. Crazy. However, when i was pregnant with my son 5 years ago, every time i did a urine test it was negative.... blood test was positive. With my daughter, both tests - urine and blood, were positive.

First let me say E.P.T showed positive results the day of my missed period for both of my pregnancies. Second, I think you should definitely go see a doctor because our sounds like your body is trying to tell you something. Good luck. God bless.

Your best bet is to go see your Dr.if it is a ruptured cyst, there could be complications in which need to be taken care of.

Also, I still have discharge. Not a lot, just some, but I can definitely feel it.

So, I'm still getting negative pregnancy tests and I am now 2 weeks and 2 days late. Feel like I'm getting a cold - stuffy nose, burning eyes, very tired, sneezing a lot. Also, I'm bloated and still cramping, but they are minor cramps, mostly on my left side now, but still all over my pelvis. And peeing frequently. Still a cyst maybe? Or maybe I'm just not producing enough hCG to be detected? I've read in a couple forums women who are 8-10 weeks pregnant and have a positive blood test but negative urine test. So basically I'm just eating the best I can, making sure I walk once a day with my dog, and just started taking prenatal just to make sure! Any suggestions? I know some women just miss their periods for no reason so I'm basically just waiting for my period to come or not come in two weeks.

Sounds like you might have or ruptured a cyst. Ive dealt with this alot in my history. Your best bet is to possibly go to an er and have an ultra sound done to find out if it is a cyst and they can do blood and urine test for pregnancy

If you may be pregnant tyanol is what they reccomend for headaches because its safe for the baby, and get your self a stool softner laxatives and tat arnt supposed to be good eiter. And if the warm water helps your cramps try putting some warm ater in a water bottle and roll it gently where it hurts, you may be getting worse cramps because you cant go to the bathroom.  Good luck to you hope you feel better.

Thank you. None of the other symptoms are bothering me much but the pain on my right side is getting a lot worse. And I just started experiencing some constipation. If not pregnancy, I'm just a bit worried about what this pain is. It's like the constant cramp feeling when I'm about to start my period but nothing! And today it's been constant. I took a hot bath to soothe it but the second I got out of the water it came back. I've had a headache every day for the past 3 days. They're sudden, not progressive. And when I try to poop, the pain in my pelvis just gets a lot worse. It gets sharp.
