Light Cramping

Hello Ladies!! I have a few questions. One is..I'm 4 weeks & 2 days pregnant. LMP 3/13/2010. I had a BFP on 10dpo. And 5 more BFP test since then. The past 3-5 days I have been getting very light cramping on & off. It feels like a period cramp, but lighter. I'm nervous & keep checking for blood every time I use the ladies room. Is this a normal feeling?

My second question is...I had a early chemical pregnancy in Feb 2010. (first pregnancy) I did not need a D&C. But my doctor then told me if I become pregnant again that he wants to know asap. Well, I called the office just this past thursday & my appointment is tomorrow. Will they be doing a ultrasound because of my lost in feb?? Or is it too soon? I know they will do blood testing. But what else should I been ready for?

Yes, light cramping is normal.  You will probably have bloodwork done and an internal exam.  It is very rare to have an US the day of your first appointment as this normally needs to be scheduled in advance (and you will have special instructions).

Light cramping is normal.  At your stage it could just be the baby making itself nice and cozy in your uterus.  You will have this cramping as your pregnancy continues because your uterus is growing.  It's when you have severe cramping (like taking your breath away) with heavy bleeding is when you should be worried.  I am a little over 9 weeks and still get this cramping.  I asked my doctor about it and she told me the above advice.  They will probably check your HCG levels to see how high they are and probably do so about every 2-3 days to make sure they are rising like they should.  They may also do an ultrasound but they may not do one until they get your HCG levels back because they need to be so high in order to see anything on an ultrasound (I think at least above 1000 but I also heard 2000).  I had an ultrasound done due to spotting at 4 weeks and 4 days and all I could see was the gestational sac.  Good luck and I hope everything works out good for you at your appt.
