Low birth weight

29 weeks pregnant, ultrasound today showed birth weight of 2 pounds and 2 onces. Have been atenolol 25mg daily since beginning of 2nd trimester. Plan to have c-section at 37 weeks due previous t incision of uterus and post op PE, also on Lovenox 40mg  SQ daily. I am very concerned if I should stop taking atenolol.

Hi!
I don't know why you are taking the atenolol, but it will be very important to discuss any medication changes with your doctor!  Atenolol can cause growth restriction, which is probably why they were doing the ultrasound.  It seems to me that 2lb 2 oz is OK at 29 weeks, but I would need to know the percentile and how the weight was calculated.
If you were my patient, and the baby was not growing well, I would stop the atenolol if it is being given for a minor indication such as prophyllaxis of migraines. If they are using the atenolol for more important indications such as irregular heart rate, it may be crucial to continue with it even if the baby is a little "smallish".
You should definitely continue your Lovenox!  And, if you were my patient, I would also use Intermittent Compression stockings during your C/section.
I hope this helps!
Good luck!
