Medication during pregnancy

Woke up yesterday feeling awful with head congestion, coughing, slight fever, etc... I laid in bed all day and then finally remembered my OB gave me a paper with a list of medications I can take during my pregnancy. I saw Robitussin DM and sent my fiancé after some... But once he got home with it, I was apprehensive to take it.. I googled and called pharmacist and then finally broke down and took HALF of the recommended dosage. About 20 minutes later I noticed a relief in my symptoms but MENTALLY I felt terrible): I hate taking medications while pregnant and I feel like now if something were to happen with baby, I'd feel like it was my fault for taking that medicine.. Does anyone else having this feeling when taking non-prescription or even prescription medications?

Clysta- I know they're not all harmful and I know what I took isn't harmful.. It was just the mental side of it that scared me. I've suffered 3 miscarriage and since I'm only 14w, I worry EVERYTHING I do will result in the loss of my child. I took medicine for Bronchitis with my first child and she's perfectly healthy as well, but it was over the counter medication.. I double checked with my OB a few hours ago and he assured me that baby will be just fine. I'm just a crazy worry wart lol

Sorry, ill clarify. Not all medications are harmful - some are outright known to cause issues, but many others do not.

The don't if you prefer. I was on medication my entire pregnancy and my daughter is a very healthy, intelligent two year old. They're not as harmful to children as you would think, and it's in fact worse for you to be that sick and in pain because it puts them into stress.

I know I'm allowed it.. But does anyone really truly know the long term effects it can cause on baby if taken numerous times during pregnancy? Methanphetamine is made from Sudafed.. (Along with other chemicals, I know).. But it 'speeds' you & your heart rate up.. I can only imagine what it will do to my LO.. I prefer not to take anything anymore...
