Hi there, I've experienced this for 3 years now and they come and go many times through the year. I get them quite a lot, they are nicknamed tonsil stones and I find I get them more when Im stressed.
They are harmless but quite annoying and can leave a horrible taste in the back of your throat. They can be quite difficult to remove yourself if you have a sensitive gag reflex, but if youre like me then you'l have no trouble.
They are easy to remove with cotton wool buds, just shine a torch down your throat and apply pressure where you can see them and they just pop out. There are many holes in tonsils so can be tricky at times. Just make sure you brush your teeth really well and more importantly the back of your tongue. Because these "tonsil stones" are built up of bacteria.
Oh and I've never been pregnant....................Hope I've helped.
P.s... were you preggers?? I've noticed your post was a while ago.
Just be gentle hunnie, dont hurt yourself at first you might gag a litle but if you use something long enough and push around a flap you should see a white looking area that's them. If you dont have them that's still great news b/c they arent nice haha. :?
good luck dear :)
Very interesting..I remember the metallic taste during my last preg, but not during this one. I think I'm going to head to the bathroom right now though to see if I have any tonsil stones though lol!
I never knew bad breathe was a sign of pregnancy but It checks out. From what I've researched its more common than I thought. I couldnt understand why husband kept sayin my breathe smelled AFTER I just brushed it and I ALWAYS brush after my meals.... so I couldnt figure it out Im not 7dpo and have had tonsil stones for about 4 days now.... very strange which is just around the same time metallic taste came.
:) Hope this was interesting read for anyone experiencing this gross thing I'm confessing about hahahaha
We this is one of my theories above so it could and could not be but still interesting..
I brush 3xtimes a day still scare the hubs hahah
oh and I never coughed anything up, or had any problems with anything like that... just that annoying taste!!
I never heard about tonsil stones but I do remember a metallic taste in my mouth with my first pregnancy. It was just annoying more than anything, but my husband never said anything about my breath being bad... and he would have if it had been. Ha ha! I don't know, I never knew what it was, I just thought it was another one of the weird things that had to do with pregnancy!
