Metallic Taste Figure Out!?

Ok so here's the script (WARNING THIS IS A KINDA GROSS POST SO YOU"VE BEEN TOLD)
For the last few days I've had really awful taste in my mouth sometimes metallicy sometimes just pungent bad breathe.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tonsillolith

I kept coughing up Tonsil Stones/ tonsillolith  (which I have read about in the past but thought weird why am I getting so many these days) So I made my way to wikipedia and here is a little excerpt of what it says:

"Other symptoms include a METALLIC taste, throat closing or tightening, coughing fits, and choking."

From this I thought hmmm is this the metallic taste I wonder?

So I researched a bit further and found that many pregnant woman get very bad breath and horrible disgusting Tonsil stones (maybe this is what the metallic taste is?????)

Here is what some woman say:

"a tonsil stone is bacteria that gets caught in little areas of the tonsil. you can see them if you get a flash light and look at your tonsil. it just looks like a little white chunk on your tonsil. google it, its gross.
ive never had a tonsil stone until this pregnancy! i've only had one so far though."

"It might be tonsil stones. Grab a flashlight and go in front of the mirror, open your mouth really wide and see if you can see white/yellowish "dots" on your tonsils. If they are there you can gently press on your tonsils to get them out. I've noticed my tonsil stones have gotten worse since I've gotten pregnant."

Something to think about!
Have you caughed up white chunky things while coughin ???? If so let us know... I know I have been sooo maybe Im preggo after all!

Hi there, I've experienced this for 3 years now and they come and go many times through the year. I get them quite a lot, they are nicknamed tonsil stones and I find I get them more when Im stressed.
They are harmless but quite annoying and can leave a horrible taste in the back of your throat. They can be quite difficult to remove yourself if you have a sensitive gag reflex, but if youre like me then you'l have no trouble.
They are easy to remove with cotton wool buds, just shine a torch down your throat and apply pressure where you can see them and they just pop out. There are many holes in tonsils so can be tricky at times. Just make sure you brush your teeth really well and more importantly the back of your tongue. Because these "tonsil stones" are built up of bacteria.
Oh and I've never been pregnant....................Hope I've helped.

P.s... were you preggers?? I've noticed your post was a while ago.

Just be gentle hunnie, dont hurt yourself at first you might gag a litle but if you use something long enough and push around a flap you should see a white looking area that's them.  If you dont have them that's still great news b/c they arent nice haha. :?
good luck dear :)

I never knew bad breathe was a sign of pregnancy but It checks out. From what I've researched its more common than I thought. I couldnt understand why husband kept sayin my breathe smelled AFTER I just brushed it and I ALWAYS brush after my meals.... so I couldnt figure it out Im not 7dpo and have had tonsil stones for about 4 days now.... very strange which is just around the same time metallic taste came.

:) Hope this was interesting read for anyone experiencing this gross thing I'm confessing about hahahaha

I never heard about tonsil stones but I do remember a metallic taste in my mouth with my first pregnancy. It was just annoying more than anything, but my husband never said anything about my breath being bad... and he would have if it had been. Ha ha! I don't know, I never knew what it was, I just thought it was another one of the weird things that had to do with pregnancy!
