Midwife vs OBGYN

I had an appointment with a Midwife today, and had a great experence.  We are TTC and she gave some great information and i felt so comfortable.  My questions is how many of you ladies have chosen a Midwife and how many have done a home birth?  I think this is a great option for us when we finally conceive.  Just looking for other's feedback.

Thanks!

Are you talking about your ultrasound or images of your tubes because you are trying to get pregnant?  Usually the person who ordered a test can give you the information for what it means but you can post it to your home page taking out the personal info and we can look at it.

4 years of schooling compared to 13 years....

i personally would never choose a midwife i just wouldnt feel comfortable with one... but i do have a great relationship with my OB/GYN so i feel very comfortable with him

everyone will have a different opinion on this cause the midwife experience is much more personal and less invasive... my friend loves her midwife.... its just not for me

I am going to school to be an OB/GYN tho

you should meet with an OB/GYN and a midwife so you can feel whats besto for you

well that sounds like good back up then, my first was born at a birth center but that was attached to a hospital.

Thanks for your feedback.  I was really hoping for a birthing center vs home or a hospital but the closet facility to do that is 90 min away so thats not going to happen.  The midwife I saw today only does homebirths she does not go into hospitals anymore but she does have a doctor on staff to assist with any issues that may arise.

I have had 10 children all deliverd by midwives and if you find one one you like stick with her. I havent had homebirths, all have mine have been in hospitals, but with midwife based care, so if anything were to go wron, doctor/theatre right there. not sure what your hospitals/labou/birth suites are like over there but here you can give birth anyway you like, for my last I had a waterbirth, so yes if your pregnancies are complicatin free, they are a fantastic alternative
