Need to Vent...stupid small town...

No one in this dinky town likes to do BLOOD pregnancy tests.  The ONE place i did find that WILL has to send it out and you have to wait a couple days for results...and it's an urgent care clinic...sheesh!!!!  Looks like that's my only option.

Thanks...it's said....she's really not a doctor, she's a physicians assistant at an URGENT CARE facility.  Doesn't say much for the actual DOCTORS around here. LOL.  BUT the people the own the urgent care are husband and wife docs who have 5 kids so ...

Thanks.  My obgyn is an idiot, all he said was to chart bbt for 3 months...NOT going back to him...so the doc at the urgent care said she wants to rule out pregnancy 100% first, if this qualitative test comes back neg when they get it back Friday she will schedule me for an outpatient u/s at the hospital ...there they will check for cysts.  If it's not cysts then we'll look at pituitary/thyroid function ....so atleast now i have some sort of game plan.  If i hit the 3 month no period mark without anyone saying anything about inducing a period...i am DEFINATELY gonna bring it up becuase I've researched and they shouldn't let you go any longer than that.

Ask them if they can give you a script for provera... you take it for 10 days and then it induces a period.. after i did that i had a regular period 28 day... and the next month i ovulated and got pregnant with my baby girl.. they probably want to make sure you aren't pregnant before they mention it.. but i think thats your best bet.. go ahead and google provera it will tell you all about it

Yes, I've been pregnant 7 times and everytime I never had a problem getting a pos. hpt.  So, I just don't know.  For whatever reason, my OBGYN doesn't think this is a big deal....the urgent care doc, wants to absolutely rule out pregnancy first before checking anything else.  NO ONE has mentioned anything about doing anything to induce a period.  I'm just fed up.  This isnt' like me, so I don't know wth is going on and no one else seems to think there is anything wrong.  But i know my body and I don't just miss periods and have irregular ones.

dont you have other children? and did you test positive on an hpt with them? if you did then its highly unlikely that you wouldn't test positive if indeed you were pregnant.. i think they need to give you some provera and help start your period... thats what they did for me when i went 4 months with no period.. i took it for 10 days and got my period and the next month got pregnant with my baby girl...

It is and the fact that DH is being a complete JERK isn't helping.  He is the most NON UNDERSTANDING person I have ever met.  HE has NO idea what these symptoms could lead to.  He thinks my my moodiness is just me being out to get him when in reality I'm scared to find out what's going on.  If it's NOT pregnancy, it could be cysts or something else.  So, besides you ladies, I'm going through this on my own.

Sorry, just a bit ticked off, upset, hurt and emotional right now.

Well I went to the urgent care.  She would ONLY do stuff to rule out pregnancy FIRST...so we did a urine test (again) and it was negative (duh).  I mentioned the blue cervix and she said that yes it IS a sign of pregnancy....she drew blood for a QUALITATIVE HCG And CBC.  CBC was normal...won't get other til Friday...the lab wouldn't let her order the BETA HCG before getting results of the qualitative.  So,we'll wait til friday for the results of that, if it comes back negative she is going to schedule me for an u/s to rule out cysts.  THEN if that's not it,we'll look at pituitary/thyroid.

The nurse told me she has an ex SIL that NEVER was able to get a pos URINE ...only blood...the docs told her it was due to over active kidneys or something...

We'll just wait and see.

Hopefully you get some answers soon.  How incredibly frustrating.  I used to live in a small town w/ ~10,000 people and was very limited to the doctors I could see due to the insurance I carried - all of the 5 or so doctors covered by my insurance  were awful (only 1 OBGYN would take our insurance).  I am very glad to live in a bigger town now.

that WAS my obgyn I went to...he's a big fat idiot.  I can't find a doc around here that will take me since i'm not an existing patient without having me do several intake visits first...i just don't have the money for those copays...so I called the urgent care center here...they all do some GP type stuff....I'm going there tonight to see if I can get them to run some blood work...HCG test, Pituitary function and thyroid function.

I was also doing more research earlier and found that a head or neck injury can cause pituitary malfunction...I smack my head on a block wall in feb.  so hard that I blacked out for a second.  So, we'll see what they say tonight. I won't get results from any blood work for a few days though.

Honestly, I really DON'T think I'm pregnant...BUT I still want it ruled out beyond a shadow of a doubt, especially if i'm going to have to take any kind of meds or whatever.

What type of doctor have you been seeing?  A regular GP or an OBGYN?  I would certainly recommend that you see an OBGYN if you havent been to one already.  Some of your symptoms could also be due to PCOS so that should be ruled out.

I dont know what a "blue cervix" means but if you were pregnant, that should be immediately obvious from a pelvic exam.

When who are pregnant and do not get positive results on a home pregnancy test either a) test too early, b) perform the test incorrectly, or c) are hydrated to abnormal levels.  This is an incredibly unusual situation which is likely the reason that your doctor doesnt want to do an HCG test.

I agree that I'm most likely NOT pregnancy...BUT, In researching everything I HAVE found several woman who for whatever reason did not have pos. urine tests at all or for several months.  I want to rule out pregnancy 100% as soon as possible....so that on the small chance I COULD be I could get the necessary prenatal care.  ALSO, the whole blue cervix thing has me thoroughly confused....pretty much the only info i can find on it says it's called "chadwicks sign" and it's a sign of pregnancy.  SO, I want to rule it out.  Does that make sense?  I've had my thyroid tested in the past for similiar symptoms (minus the nausea and cramping) and it came back normal. So I don't know.  I guess I just want to cover all my bases so I can stop worrying.

ok - I just read your other post (I start from the top down).

It doesnt sound like you are pregnant - a test should give a positive result about 2 weeks after conception.  I agree that you may have problems with your thyroid - other conditions could also cause your symptoms too.  Sounds like you need standard blood work panel and a CBC to make sure everything is in order.
