Miscarriage or period?

I was wondering if someone can help me out. I had tried skipping my period on February and doubled up on the pill (I am on ortho-tricyclen lo) however it failed and I was heaving breakthrough bleeding within the tenth day of new pack. I followed the nurses advice in stopping that pack and having a period to stop the bleeding. I started a new pack but then had unprotected sex with my boyfriend. About the time I was finishing my pack I was experiencing pregnancy symptoms, light nausea, cravings, constantly peeing and was nervous I was pregnant. However, I got my period except it was heavier with mucusy substance, could it have possibly been a miscarriage?

Not taking your pill as directed can cause your hormones to be thrown off, and can cause you to get pregnant. The pill is not 100% effective and you can get pregnant taking it correctly. As suggested above, I would speak with your doctor about changing your birth control if you want to skip periods, you should never take your pill other than as directed unless under a doctor's supervision, or suggestion because of the possibility of pregnancy.

It was probably just your period. A lot of women do miscarry and don't know it because it happens so early. If you are trying to stop your cycl and dont want to get pregnant you should try an IUD. 2 of my girlfriends are on them and after a few months both had little to no periods.

There isnt really anyway to know unless you had tested positive before hand on a pregnancy test. It sounds to me though that it was just a weird period from messing around with the pill. If you are trying to stop cycles I would suggest you ask your doctor for a different form of birth control.
