Has anyone ever had a Charlie horse?

It's like a part of your body, for example your foot, locks up somehow and hurts like hell until u stretch it out or move a different position. I get those all over my body and idk why. Ever since I became pregnant it's been this way. I get them in my feet, hands, and right now more commonly when I lay on my sides it locks up right under my shoulder blade on my back. Hurts so bad until I switch positions. Anyone else experience this? I'm 33 weeks with my 3rd

Eat bananas and drink more water. I used to get them everyday around 32 weeks till my doctor told me to keep lots of fluids in my body it really helps drinking tons of water. I'm
34 weeks now

Try taking epsom salt baths. Your body absorbs magnesium best through the skin so either taking a bath or getting topical magnesium to rub on your skin will work the best. I had a horrible one the other day and upped both and no problems since.

I never got them until I was pregnant, and I only have a couple times throughout my pregnancy. But they are TERRIBLE! Try to keep the levels of nutrients in your body stable. For example, if you haven't had much milk in the past week, don't drink 3 glasses in one day. I've also heard that bananas help! My mother in law gets them terribly and usually eats a banana every night before going to bed to try to prevent them.

No the prenatal pills will not help with this at all, at least my pills last pregnancy had absolutely nothing to do with them because once i hit a certain time in my pregnancy I would get them every single night on my calves, if I was lucky it would only happen once, it was so bad I'd wake up crying and I'd have to wake up my boyfriend to rub my leg and fix it. It really *****, I pray I pray I don't get them this time around.

Prenatals are meant to get you most of what you need, but some people need more of certain things. It depends on your diet, as well as how fast the baby is growing at any given time, among other things.

A Charlie horse is when the muscle cramps up. It can be caused by a couple different vitamin shortages. Since your baby is taking all your nutrients, that's why they happen a lot during pregnancy, especially in your calves. Calcium, potassium, and magnesium are all ones I've heard that you need more of. Try eating bananas, it's supposed to help. Also, being dehydrated can cause it, so maybe try drinking more water.
