My baby has Gastroschesis

Hi I am 25W4D pregnant and when I was 20W5D I found out that not only was I having a baby boy but he has Gastroschesis. I go next week to see a specialist at Vanderbuilt, get and u/s, and do a walk through of NICU. I did a lot of research on this and even had doctors explain it to me but I wanted to hear personal stories of anyone that has been through this, going through this, or know of someone.

If any of you do not know What Gastroschesis is is it a birth defect where the abdomenal was dosent close all the way up and *** leaves a little hole and the organs (some, most or all) will be on the outside of the babies body, luckily my baby it is only his intestines and they cant even say how much of that is on the outside. They also said its not chromosone or gentic related and its nothing the mother could have done to cause or prevent this from happening. Also no one knows what even causes this to happen it just apparently happens some times.

Any helpful comments or nice comments are greatly appreciated and if you have something negitive to say then please do not post because going this is hard enough without someones downgrading opion not I nor anyine else wants to read it.

Thank You,

I'm so sorry to hear this.  I can't imagine how you must be feeling and all you're going through.  All I can say is that God is great & merciful.  I'll keep you in my prayers!  My mom was told that my two younger sisters would be born mentally retarded & they wanted my mom to abort.  But like i said God is great.  my mom decided to keep her girls and they both are healthy with no complications what so ever.  He does miracles! Keep you faith up

I actually watched a show about a baby that had it.  They did surgery and were able to fix it.  The baby on the show had the intestines outside as well and about 4 days after birth they basically put them back in.(I watch a lot if real live surgery shows.) They did a csection on mom and when the baby came out they put a plastic film over the intestines to prevent infection until surgery time.  This particular baby had quite a lot if intestines out but the surgery for that little boy went well.  Sounds like you are getting good care and hope all goes well for you and your little one.
