Yea I agree with kai0912..don't assume you have to pay out of pocket..Google -pregnant woman Medicaid- and like the first entry says all states have pregnant woman Medicaid or something like it..when I first found out I was pregnant I went to the health dept and they were amazing.they signed me up for Medicaid and Wic that day..make some calls before you start paying for everything
if i werr you i wouldnt automaticalky think about paying out of pocket just yet like stated above most states have a government run program which is medicaid and i dont know ehat your income status is but you should be able to get pregnancy medicaid.... i know for sure theu offer pregnancy medicaid on TX because i used to work in the medicaid office.... just do a little research and find out what you can.... having a baby is very expensive and if you can avoid paying all of that out of pocket you can save some of that for after baby is born
I am considering looking into using a midwife service. It seems to be cheaper and more personalized service, since it looks like we are going to be paying for it out of pocket.
Most states have some type of insurance for pregnant women.
My insurance don't cover maternity and I live in Taxes too. My doctor pull me on a payment plan so I can finish paying off that potion of the bill. All my doctor's visits run about $3000 which include one Ultrasound at 20 weeks. Any additional u/s is about $100 cash up front.
Let the lab know you're paying cash before any blood work, that will cut the price in half.
The hospital will run from 4000 and up, cash of course. I was told the price will double once I left the hospital and roll into a payment plan. I'm going to start making small payment to the hospital to help reduce the balance. Hoping to put the rest on a credit card if it comes to that.
Yup, it's going to add up but I heard some other state can cost double or triple that. So I'm looking at the bright side :)
Hope you find a program that can help you.
Best of luck.
There is a pregnant women Medicaid in Texas or Chip Perinatal program depending on your income you either have a co-payment or not. It (chip perinatal) only covers up to 20 Dr visits and 2 post partum visit. After that it only covers the baby. I looked into insurances but they are pretty expensive like $400 amonth,(for me at the time). If not talk to your Dr they can put you on a payment plan they usually give like 10-20% off to self pay.
