No period for 5 months and there is a gestational sac with no heartbeat. What's going on?

Sept. 25 I had an abortion and i haven't had a period since then and it is now Feb 6. i wen to my doctor about a month and half ago an she did blood work on me to see if i was pregnant or had any type of std and everything came back negative. She then sent me to get an ultra sound and there was a sac that look like it was a gestational sac but it had no heartbeat. She thought that maybe it was to early for a heartbeat so she told me to come back in two weeks to see if there was a change in size and to see if a heartbeat has developed. Well there was no change in the size nor there wasn't a heartbeat. What could possible be wrong. At times i do have cramping but about 2 months ago i had really bad cramping and a headache that made me naseau. I don't know what could be going on i have an appointment with the obgyn in a week. Now i am posting this for suggestions on wht could be going on with me not for judgement for what has happen or what i have done. oh yeah i left out on little factor i was on birth control the ring and i have gotten pregnant on both birth conrol pills and the shot which how i have my 2 beautiful little girls...please tell me what could have happen

Sound like to me an incomplete abortion hun.definately get the matter chased up.

Have you been sexually active since the abortion?

If no: then the abortion was incomplete (very unlikely though).

If yes: then you most likely got pregnant after the abortion (you do not need to have a period to get pregnant).  Because there has been no change in the size of the sac in a 2 week period this means that the fetus is not developing correctly (has passed).  In most cases like this a womens body will miscarry naturally but sometimes the body fails to recognize what has happened - this is called a missed miscarriage and fetus can remain in the uterus for weeks or months.  

Do you have a follow-up appointment?  If so and there is no change, then you will need a D&C.

I agree with angella no one here is going to judge you promise. I am sorry you are going through this. I got pregnant on bc pills twice and had two boys so I know what you are going through. I hope that you get everything worked out and I agree with angella again about the twin situation and that would explain why you haven't had a period yet... or it could be really early still but the lack of growth is definitely concerning you are definitely making the right decision by letting the doctor do their job. Well, their is a chance you could have had twins when you had your abortion. My mother had that issue when she had an abortion when she was younger, and she had twins.  But let the doctor do his/her job. And it will all work out.
