One Born Every Minute

I love watching One Born Every Minute and have realised that in the UK we also get to see the US version...its really interesting to see the differences in delivery styles. I dont think I have yet seen a US one with the Mum actually arriving at the hospital in labour where in the UK version I dont think I've seen any induced!
If any of you US mums are interested in having a delivery without being induced then if you have access to watching the UK version, you might find it useful  : )

With my first I wanted to be induced I was so ready! I was set to induce a saturday but I went into labor that tuesday. I won't try to induce this time unless I medically need too. I loved the whole labor process and being at home until my water broke :)

I love one born every minute ! think it's good seeing all the different things that could happen and how women cope with the different pain releif methods etc! I also am guilty for making my bf watch it with me lol ! he is a bit of a woose ! so I hope it's gave him a slight idea of what could happen lol !!!!I didn't no there was a US version!! will def have to tune in the next time it is on ! did someone say it's on more4?... I'm petrefied of being induced lol! i'm already a week over due tomorrow! if I haven't went by Sunday they want to take me in and induce me ! I pray to god I go on my own.. though on a little plus side it is mother's day on sun ! lol makes it very slightly less annoying... but if my doctor told me I had to be for their convenience I would tel them to go and JUMP!!! lol

Sometimes it is absolutely necessary, I've had it done myself...I've just found it really interesting reading here about scheduled inductions before 40wks and seeing it on this programme and the little bit of the Business of Being Born I managed to watch online. My own experience put me off being induced without good cause and I was lucky enough to have a wonderful natural birth second time around, hopefully I can do it again!!
Best of luck to everyone with their deliveries however they happen, I hope everyone can have the experience they would like, be it induced, in a birthing pool, at home, drugged up to the eyeballs or without so much as a whiff of gas and air!!!!! There's nothing more magical than having the experience you hope for! : )

I was having contractions 10 minutes apart and stuck dialated at 3 for 4 days before my heart rate was so high that not only was it seriously unhealthy for me but they could no longer monitor baby parkers heartbeat and since I was already 39w2d they decided it was safer for both of us to induce. I had to be on oxygen and before the end of it my heart rate was so high and his so low we almost went to emergency c section to keep us both from dying. It was hard and I hope not to have to be induced this time but sometimes it is very necessary

I've never heard of this show but i might start looking for it.  I went into labor with my first  the night before i was scheduled to be induced at 41.5 wks and still had to have the dr break my water.  I'm really wondering how this one will go.

The US version was on last night, I think it is on More4. Last nights was scary though! They had to try to get a baby out with the vonteuse and it flew off 3 times! The baby's heartrate had dropped and the poor mother was screaming in panic...all was well in the end though : )

I really enjoy watching it as well, although I do question wether I shld watch it after seeing the poor baby get stuck a few weeks ago! Scary! But I guess it at least gives us an idea of what happens in different circumstances. Looking forward to tonights episode! what channel is the us version on?

Yea I have a friend who was induced at 38.5wks because her ob was going on a there week vacation.  Not only was he sick and in the NICU for about a week, he has stunted growth and immunity issues.  He'll be three in november and he barely looks over one.

I went to 41 1/2 weeks with my first child. My water broke the night b4 I was to be induced. My doc said the risks were too high after 41 1/2 to not induce. The hospital I delivered at and will deliver my 2nd baby has induction rules. They wont induce before 39 weeks so these moms that are "sick of being pregnant" don't get to induce earlier.  In addition they no longer do c-sections at 38 weeks, but now at 39, which is what I'll be doing. So some US hospitals are now taking a stand on these early deliveries/inductions.

I wasn't induced with either one of my children and would not like the idea of being induced. My niece was induced on her due date and her daughter was not ready and had to spend 2 weeks in the nicu. I think your right here in the us it is about convenience but I feel babies come when they are ready.

I almost feel like in the US (where I live) it's about convenience for the doctor... Not wishes/ comfort of the mother :-(
