I have had to take it during pregnancy before and there have been no reports of birth defects linked to the usage of oxycodone or for that matter hydrocodone in pregnancy. The biggest risks are neonatal withdrawal and feeding or respiratory difficulties after birth but your doctor will know how to best minimize this risk.I don't have much time right now but I'll try to tell you more of my experiences later but wanted to reassure you. Work closely with your doctor and everything can be done quite safely :)
Thank you for sharing your story. I'm very physically dependant on the medication...which I don't like. I also cannot function without it. The pain is so intense. I will see what other options are available to me. Oxycodone is a class B...knowing this makes the fear much less. Thanks again.
I had to have stomach surgery pregnant and needed to have a second before my little guy was ready to come. When the doc said I needed to wait the second surgery out but they would put me on hydrocodone daily until my son came (14 weeks later) for pain I was stunned. I asked about risks and I was only told that the baby may be born addicted to the drug itself. The doctor will tell you if there is a problem talk to your ob if you are worried and maybe between the three of you you can find some sort of alternative for the pain. Good luck
