I am overweight (155 lb). my question is does clomid and metformin works for overweight women like me… I want to have a baby badly. I have started loosing hope… I wonder if I would ever have a baby… Please help..

Hi!
Yes, that combination works well for many people.  You can double check to be sure you are ovulating by checking a progesterone level on day 21 of your cycle.  You can also do ovulation predictors to  help you with timing.  If you find that you are ovulating, the next step is to check to be sure that the fallopian tubes are open.  This is typically done with an HSG (dye is injected into the tubes while an xray is taken).

Losing weight definitely improves fertility.  Also, don't forget to have a sperm count checked too.

Some women with PCOS ultimately end up going on to IVF and with the proper protocols, can have very good luck.

Don't give up!

I have read all the posts and would like to add there is hope at the end of the tunnel for you.

I used to have PCOS and tried for 8 yrs to have a baby and no luck, I lost 3 stone in weight and went to the gym 3-4 times a week and they disappeared which my consultant said they would, I had IVF in 2006 which failed but kicked my body into touch and I fell pregnant  twice but sadly lost but I never gave up on having a child as I come too far down the road with treatments and medication to stop but I did  accept if it was to be it would be, just before my long term rel/ship broke I fell pregnant  again and I just had my son Archie which am totally fascinated by  and am enjoying being a mom so please don’t give up hope there is always light at the end of the tunnel and mother nature works in funny ways.

i am on metformin 500 mg 3X and on clomid 100mg cd2-cd6 for 4 months. I really don't have that much side effect with metformin so my gyn told me to contuinue. I heard many PCOS women got pregnant with the combination og clomid and metformin. But i haven't got that luck yet.I also somtimes get tensed whether i would b able to get pregnant. Listen don get scared go to your gyn and talk to him/her ad ask for advice. Oh 1 thing more r u overwight? i am 155lb. My gyn told me to loose weight and make it 130lb.

My periods are very regular.I have a cycle of 29-31 days. Is regular cycle means regular ovulation? My husband's sperm count is fine. I’ll b continuing clomid the next month too if no good news happens. That will b my last month. my gyn has put me to 100mg clomid. I don know as it's not working why she didn't upped the dose.... I am so confused..
