I've done quite a bit of research on the supject.  Obviously the baby will be born addicted and will have to go through withdrawls.  Other than that I do know that you withdrawling can cause harm to the baby and even a miscarriage.  I do however suggest that you taper as much as you can as early as you can as as your baby grows your intacke will grow along with the baby!
Other complications, low birthweight, possible early term delivery, these are the most common ther are other sites out there that want to scare you but there is no foundation for their claims.

I would go and see a doctor and talk with them about what your options are as to how to go about getting off the pain pills.
All the best.

Physically nothing should happen to the baby unless you use them your whole pregnancy and then the baby can be born addicted.

hey, do NOT let any of these women (no offense ladies) scare you. depending on the med and the frequency you take them obviously SOMETIMES the baby can be born with a dependency.HOWEVER

I myself was on Vicoden 5/500 every 6 hrs for the last 5 months of my pregnancy. I took it up to the week I delivered and my son was fine. no addiction and no complications. during your first trimester I would NOT suggest any pain pills other than tylenol and in the first trimester IBuprofen and Asperin can cause bleeding issues and miscarriage and during your last trimester Ibuprofen can cause heart problems.  Just speak with your doctor and get multiple opinions if you wish.

my mom completely flipped out about the vicodin until I had 2 OBGYN's tell her it was safe. I had a 3rd tell me on my own it was safe.

Oh and my High risk obgyn told me it was alright. and if anything the baby's breathing might be a tiny bit depressed at birth. it wasn't, other than from he being a preemie and I was EXTREMELY HIGH RISK!

I had IUGR, preterm birth,  no fluid, extreme leg pain, low weight gain (13lbs due to morning sickness my whole pregnancy) and my son has Down Syndrome, EHK, and a hole in his heart. the heart problem has to due with the downs.
