After my first I ended up liking the ice pack they can make out of a newborn diaper best. It was really absorbent and relieved a lot of the discomfort. Things I liked having at the hospital: shower sandals, hair ties, comfy clothes to go home,my own toiletries, granny panties, and my phone charger, and a going home outfit for baby. They will provide anything else you need. Hospitals go the extra mile for maternity patients because the want you to come back for your next baby. If you are still stressed look up your hospital online, they will probably have reccomandations.
Your period can return at any time after delivery regardless of if you're breastfeeding or not. I was only able to breastfeed for about a month and I didn't get my first period til 4 months postpartum. Some women won't get it back til they stop breastfeeding. Some will get it back right away. Hard to say as everyone is different.
It's hard not to stress. It's overwhelming sometimes, there's so much information, but you're doing the best thing you can do by asking questions. Even if you're not 100% prepared things will work out.
Thank you! This helped me out alot!I'm 33 weeks and 2 days and I'm stressing about EVERYTHING..I'm trying my best not to but nothing helps because it keeps getting closer and closer. I'm the type that likes to be prepared on everything and I am the type that worries about everything.
It's very very hard to say. I actually bled for 8 weeks so even the norms don't apply to everyone. Normaly if you don't breastfeed you would get it back around 4-8 weeks after giving birth. I also breastfed and didn't get it back till 6 weeks after I stopped, my son was one when I stopped. Most likely you will get it back around 3-8 weeks after you stop breastfeeding since you don't plan on breastfeeding for long. The hospital with supply pads but I do recommend you bring your own sometimes the ones provided aren't very good. I also would bring a few pairs of cheap underwear you don't mind having ruined. No tampons. In the end as frustrating as it is when you will stop bleeding and when you will get a period is very very hard to predict.
I will be breastfeeding but not very long, about a month or so..So I need to be sure and have pads to take with me to the hospital right? Also, since I will be breastfeeding what exactly will i need to take to the hospital? I'm sorry for all the questions but I'd like to be prepared. Will I need the disposable breast pads?
You bleed for up to 6 weeks after then it depends on if you breastfeed. For me I didn't get mine til my son was 5 months because that's when I stopped breastfeeding
